I think these have been mentioned before but they do look exciting now, they do road legal ones as well, I think they do about 50mph and have a 60 mile range, so perfect for hooning around the village with the odd track thrown in.
I believe the road legal ones are leccy equivalent to 50cc but there's lots of chatter on the FB site about upgrading controllers and battery packs. They do look like fun though.
I'm a bit torn about their use off road because a few owners are using them on MTB trails in places like fod & cwmcarn which I don't like very much, but the off piste trails are a bit more of a free for all so it's meh as long as they don't trash the place, which is the same as everyone else using the trails.
You can derestrict the road going one very easily but it'll be as easy to spot that that's been done as any other moped. You could probably get away with it on the green lanes although derestricting it there is just as illegal. I'll wait until they get them registered as motorbikes rather than mopeds.

I was going to say 30 is fast enough on green lanes, and it is, but I'm a total hypocrite because I've done over 70 on my old DRZ off road.
For me the restricted top speed isn't a big deal, I wonder if the restricted ones still have the torque of a faster bike.

There are always exceptions for open tracks to get to the next interesting bit and I don't fancy doing 30mph on the road to get to the tracks.
Local scrotes have moved on from e-scooters to these for their drug trade, however they look great fun off road but nowhere to use them but that doesn't stop plenty using mtb trails, bit of an issue in some places as they are motorbikes yet those with them don't seem to get it
I live on Cannock chase and have had a go on a Surron in the woods on there. They are brilliant fun ,probably the most fun you can have on 2 wheels in the woods to be honest, much faster than any ebike ,and much lighter (and quieter)than any mx ,enduro or trail bike .
The problem being though- its illegal to ride them there.
I have seen people on them on the official mountain bike trails which again is illegal and doesn't go down well with the mountain bikers / trail builders .
The new Stark varg electric mx bikes look amazing, lighter and more powerful than any of the current 450cc Motocross bikes and can be tuned for however you wish to ride it, full open class mx power ,or a docile green lane plodder .
Cost is similar to the Santa Cruz ebike !

Yup, seen the same as i recognized a couple of faces wazzing round on a pair of these at the weekend. One of them i have seen a few times almost always on the back wheel or stand up wheelie and flat out well above 30. He is always protected though with a t shirt wrapped around his head to protect his identity from the local cctv operators and a pair of MX goggles. I believe his is a Talaria and at about 5 grand a large amount of dosh for a leccy bike to fuck about on
Supposed to be registered and insured but obviously never will be

Do these people ever get done for riding illegal bikes around? Have the police literally lost control of the streets?
Have they ever had control?
We were blatting about the mountains on crossers in the mid 90s, I needed to use short sections of road to link up off road, some people were riding then through town centres and being quite silly with them.
I got caught once, only because the KTM was such a git to start I didn't even bother trying to start it and get away. I passed the attitude test and got away with not getting booked, I did have to push the bike up the friggin mountain with the copper following me in his Carlton
They should be way better than a 450 (or any ICE bike) in that regard because they can happily do very very low torque too. An ICE bike has a certain minimum torque it can do and the torque you have is very strictly tied to engine rpm.
On the suron you can have 1Nm at 17rpm if you want. And you can go full torque->no torque->medium torque->little bit of torque-> full torque etc. to your hearts content without fear of bogging down, being in the wrong gear etc.
Any problem would more likely lie in Suron's throttle calibration.
S'why nearly all industrial final drives are electric, even in ICE powered applications.
Yeah course you can, otherwise parking your Taycan on a wet hill might be a bit fraught.
Controlling motors well at low speed (or any speed at all really) is pretty tricky though. We have our own custom software created by extreme nerds to do it. It's one of the big differentiators in EV land.
I suspect one of our motors costs more than a whole Suron though
