PS why not ask:
Driver's side or passenger side?

What/that, surely, is clearer?

As all my driving years and buying parts its always been Off Side and Near side. The listing is just for Left and another listing for the Right but this is only correct if buying for the Land Rover. The calliper fits and listed as Land Rover and LDV but... Land Rover is a Trailing Calliper and LDV Leading what makes them opposite sides. This should be mentioned in the advert. I ordered a Left (For my Right) I was sent a Right what only fits my left. Got it sorted later when i phoned them and got to keep the wrong one for half price. All avoidable of they were listed correct. Guy on phone said we have had this issue before  So why not use a fucking simple picture to explain it in the advert FFS

Something like this would have done

Couldn't you have done this test with his x-box or at least a neighbour's child for the crash test?

Any more anecdotes about how you taught him how not to run with scissors or get into cars with strangers? ;)
I took him to boxing three times a week from six years old, so he knew what a smack in the mouth felt like.
He's always been a polite kid, because he knows what a smack in the mouth feels like.

There are people running the UK that could have done with that lesson.

In passing, you can use the "upside down" caliper if you were stuck, but would have to remove it from the carrier to bleed it...bleed nipple has to be at the top.

Yeah i seen that yesterday when it arrived. Not only the bleeding issue but the copper pipe will need bent about a bit is it would not sit a tad lower or the Mount where it reaches the Flexy hose might have bent enough however, If listing says left they should have sent a left not a right.

I am expecting another right being sent out though. Bloke gave me a listing number to buy what was another Right. When i questioned this he said its OK ill change that and make sure you get the left. I am sure had you did that the first time, you know.

TBF, I've never been able to get my head around off side and near side. But then I have issues with L & R (I get there, but sometimes the dyslexia/dyspraxia kicks in big!).
When I've ordered car/bike stuff I just right to clarify - but it sounds like your message conversation originally didn't clear things up!! LOL

And of course, N/S/F is different where they drive on the 'wrong' side of the road.

Maybe port and starboard would be better but good luck finding a motor factor that understands.

Could add more confusion with winward and leeward. Of course that would vary a bit.

Is it though? It's still the side nearest the kerb, at the end furthest from the red lights. ;)

What if there are no traffic lights nearby?

Socialising with old people!! LOL Not physically old, but mentally old!! They are all within about 6 months of my age but about 30 years older mentally (well, I might be mentally younger TBF!)

I was with a few friends lunch and dinner yesterday and at lunch I was telling them about a bike tour a friend was planning and that I'd love to do something like that but not alone and they were vaguely interested and asked questions about exactly where, which I couldn't answer. But I was really excited that there was a possibility of me joining my friend's trip.

Evening I had more info, read out the basic route and all I got was negativity!! Oh that's not a good country to go through; oh I wouldn't want to do that; etc etc etc!!

FFS - I'm not suggesting they'd want to!! LOL I went from really excited and sharing the excitement and happiness to thinking "must remember not to share stupid shit with adults/grownups/oldpeople!!"

I mean, I know I'm laughing now but it put a proper downer on my evening!!

And this morning my bakewell tarts exploded so I'm peeved :( :(

Getting an email from Amazon marked as "IMPORTANT" regarding my recent order. Well what could it be, I better check, maybe there's been an error and they don't have stock.

No, that's not it, this important email was from the courier company to say "soon, we will have a package for you, we will deliver it to the address you specified when you ordered". FFS

Virgin media help, or the lack of it.

Round and round the help pages all with the same basic info that isn't helping. Then there's no sign of a phone number, even the 'contact us' linkends up with me back at the help page.

I eventually stumble on the chat option, but it turns out to be a chat bot and it seems there's no real person involved in the chat bot, ever. It wants me to take to whatsapp. That's a no from me on that.

I google and manage to find a phone number, I get through to the automated system and it says it needs to run some tests and to phone back in 10 minutes, but don't worry, just type my number in so I won't have to go through everything again. 10 minutes later I phone back but there's no option just to put my number in again and it takes me to the 10 minute test. I can hang up or press 1 to continue. When I press 1 it says thanks and hangs up. I try again and this time don't push anything. After a pause it says thanks and hangs up. FFS :angry-cussingblack:

Eventually I stumble on the community help forum and sign up, post my problem and get a very quick response. After a few PMs the chap tells me he's booked an engineer to visit, but doesn't tell me when, just later in the week. He didn't ask me if it was convenient, just booked it. I'm going away Friday. A text arrives, the engineer is coming Friday. Of course he is
Can I change it? Yes, I have to go into 'my account' and change it there, but the appointment may not appear for 24 hours. What?! Have they written it on a post it note and given it to an old granny to hand deliver to the other side of town where somebody has to physically type it into a different computer? IT's obviously on the system, why doesn't appear everywhere. Fuck me in the old days messages got around companies faster than that. Perhaps they should invest on one of those pneumatic tube type things.

FWIW the entire automotive industry refers to it as "left" and "right" IME. Probably because "off" and "near" would be market specific but also cause L/R is way clearer

Left parts have odd drawing numbers and rights even, we often don't even draw the right and just say "see drawing one fewer" or similar. The only reason to draw the right is when it's not a mirror of the left.

Virgin Media Customer services have a rep to protect....

Looks like they're doing well on that score.

The fact Mr bin man has not taken my green bin (cardboard, tins, plastic) for 2 weeks now.

Taken all the others but mine, i have even separated it out all nice for them. I'm off work next week so will be having a word when they come and see what the problem is. Will all go in general recycling now, not my job to sort!

I heard a statistic on the BBC recently. A large % of the UK "recycling" ends up in landfill or incinerators anyway.
