Today I met our glorious leader for the first time, picked up a bicycle carrier from him, my daughter was with me and we decided to go to Devon because we like Devon.

We're now in a Premier Inn in Barnstaple, we drove along theSomerset and North Devon coast from Bridgwater to Lynton for the first time, going up Porlock Hill, Britain's steepest road apparently, my wife's diesel VW Eos climbed the hill no problem, and was probably better than my petrol Mitsubishi Lancer would have been, view from the top of the hill is amazing, we stopped for an ice cream and enjoyed it.

Tomorrow, we're going to Westward Ho, and then I'm going to try and convince an 18 year old girl that she really wants to visit the Fleet Air Arm Museum.

Edit: actually the steepest A road, not steepest road, it must also be the narrowest and shittiest surfaced A road in the UK

And it used to be a test for motor vehicles in ye olden days. Could they get up Porlock hill in top with fully advanced timing?

And it's Westwood Ho!. The only placename in the UK with an exclamation mark.

In That London, all day training session which should / could have been a half a day of teams meeting (and I don’t say that lightly). A few beers around St Paul’s, burger and lobster at burger and lobster with the joy of another day of purgatory tomorrow before jumping on a train home.

Under normal circumstances, I would have arranged drinks or something but it was only organised (in the loosest sense) last week and you SSSD’s need weeks to sort out your excuses :P :P

I rode to Bourg to drop off something to my mate with the pasty shop, and of course sit and chat, for a while!! LOL :D :D

Then rode to resort to see my physio. Happy all round cos knee and shoulder are dealing well with riding the bike. Bit of a worry about one thing to do with shoulder, but, no pain so not gonna worry for now!!

Tried to see doc but a long wait so said I'll go back Friday

Saw another friend then rode back to cat house. VERY SLOWLY cos of truck and coach. And mainly cos the pick up ahead of me blocked every attempt to pass. Given my lower skill level and lower confidence for now, I wasn't willing to push it. When he did eventually let me past, all the rest of the cars moved to let me go past - slightly less boiling bastard hot!!

Went to supermarket for some tea - totally forgot just how careful you have to be shopping by bike with no luggage!!! Cue, mushrooms attached to pillion seat and bread down my hoodie top!!

Now chilling. Too tired to deal with de-covering the pool, so gonna 'chill'(as far as possible somewhere hot!) and smile lots :D

Today I are mainly attending the hopspital to be NCSd and EMGd. (Basically being wired up like a set of Christmas lights with needles in various bits). I imagine they'll be able to make me break-dance by remote control for a giggle when I'm fully wired up. Which will be cool as I can't normally break-dance.

3/10 for injury, Mrs M tripped over the door step last year and fractured her elbow and damaged the ligaments in her wrist/hand.

My 80+ mum tried to bunnyhop her pushbike up a kerb. 10/10 for effort. 1/10 for performance - she shattered like an egg when she tumbled off, poor thing. Healing at that age is sloooow ....

I cringed when I read that. Anything broken North of 60 takes increasingly forever to heal. GWS Mrs.DT.

You 'fell down'?

Sorry, no. I'm afraid at your age the correct language is 'had a fall'.

I spent my morning at an online speed awareness course.

Forced contrition is hard but I think easier via camera at least. Still, I'm now rehabilitated. Yes, sir. Absolutely. I've learned my lesson. I can honestly say I'm a changed man. I'm no longer a danger to society. That's the God's honest truth. No doubt about it.

Commuted on the the bike across to South Wales from Wiltshire. It was a lovely ride early doors with just a mesh jacket and T shirt underneath.
Coming back early this afternoon was a different story, not been so hot on a bike since riding in the South of France some years ago.
Still preferable to riding in the cold and wet thought :)
