I had 2 tie down points at the rear. Straps tightly round swinging arm. Rock solid.

That's a cool plan. I have previously used a similar style in the pillion peg mount but these days we just leave pillion hangers on and use them.

The ones i used/bought had a specific rating associated... but as i say, i don't use them anyhow.

I didn't have a bulkhead in mine (panel van) but did have tie down points behind the rear wheels.

So it was tied front and back and also in the middle.

Can't remember the middle trick - vaguely remember it was from a point on (under) the roof and round the footrest and back. Worked really well with the front and back tie downs - one of the TD instructors showed me the loop thing and told me I didn't need the front and back. I was never confident enough to use just that middle bit!!

Bit late now, but did you know two motorcycles fit in the back of the older style 2.0l long wheelbase Traffic/ Vivaro crew vans with a bulkhead? Not sure about the later 1.6 twin turbos but don’t see why they wouldn’t.
That Vito looks like a lot of faffing about!

But the Traffic really doesn't drive anywhere near like a car (I've spent 4 years driving them for work, not something I'd choose to do again!)!! I reckon the Vito is a much better driving experience, which is, in part, what Weeksy was looking for (I think!)

Yeah a van van was no use to me. I wanted somewhere to sit, have lunch, carry mates and bikes, not a scabby builders van that's carried 2 tonnes of rubble all its life. . For the £11k budget I had, that's what you get.

The Vito drives nicely and is just like a bigger car

Sure, it's got limitations, some I knew, some not, but I much prefer it to an actual van.

We only paid £13000 for a pretty clean crew van but that was before things got silly during covid, might be wrong about 2 motorcycles in the back though, bit tight for that, mountain bikes no problem.
And hey! Not all builders drive about in scabby vans you know😂

No they don't. But at £10k they do.

Go look and see, honestly £10k doesn't but you much now.
Assuming this runs and drives as I hope long term, it's 100% the right van for our needs.
It'll be perfect for the long days on side of the hills.

My LWB crew cab with bulkhead only had a 6' load length, I think the minibus option you have is the better one and I probably would have got one of it wasn't for the massive difference it would make in tax for me.
Crew cab was N1 tax class and 9 seater was M1, irrelevant if it's private owned but a big difference when it's a company vehicle.

We used to get 3 LCs in our big Transit minibus and another 3 on the trailer :obscene-birdiedoublered:

And just enough room for 2 double bus seats at front, sideways.

Exactly this mate, and I think that what you've got is perfect for what you'll use it for.

Well that was a little weird. The battery was flat on the van. So went to start it and nothing.

Once I'd actually got into it and popped the bonnet I could start with jumper box.

It's showing 14.0 and the multi meter when running so it's getting a charge bit potentially not holding the charge.

Or possibly something was left on inside that may have drained it. But I don't think so. Main lights were off and doors were closed.

Investigation to continue tomorrow hmmm.

Didn't someone mention the current draw on that head unit thingybob? I suppose if it was staying live with the ignition off you'd have noticed by now though. I did flatten a battery by leaving the radio on in a car once (much to my surprise) but, IIRC it was on for a few days.

It was mentioned yes, but that shouldn't matter while it's turned off, unless something in the unit it draining when it's off... The van was laid up since Tues as i've been down with the lurgy... I think it was @Taipan maybe who mentioned it.
