Re: 2022 Riding, mileages and pictures.
Post night shift XC ride as calf still a bit sore. It was very hot n humid.
Drax wasn’t allowed out as he’s cut one of his pads so he’s having a monumental sulk that I went out without him.

Re: 2022 Riding, mileages and pictures.
Feckin, fecking, tubeless fail tonight. A few rides ago my rear Michelin got a flint cut on the edge of the tread. I had to put two anchovies to seal it but it was holding, until tonights night ride with my mates (first time in ages) and out pop the anchovies. Had to replug it three times to get home. Now sitting at home with a cider I should be having at the pub and have just ordered a new minion SS as a replacement.
Here's a photo of the bike whilst I was limping home.

Quick blast round a very powdery Friston today with Mrs M (on Lady Payne, her Levo) and Drax. Got utterly beasted on the climbs and am properly knackered now. We only did 10 miles but it feels like I've turned my lungs inside out.

Re: 2022 Riding, mileages and pictures.
Well that was all rather exciting. Mrs M’s Levo had some gear issues that required my attention so after a bit of poke n hope and twiddling the screws of doom (it was a loose mounting bolt). I took it for a test ride, obviously as it was her bike I took it easy…………. Troy Lee MIPS lid worked very well.
I suspect I may well be having a “strongly worded listening too” or “discussion without tea and biscuits” when she gets home.

Re: 2022 Riding, mileages and pictures.
The Levo has an Assegai on the front, its got HUGE knobbles, so I was pushing it to see how much grip it had. The Curtis has a Rekon on the front so has a fair bit less bite. I'd had a few front drifts and hadn't backed off (as usual, I'd ignored the warnings). It properly let go on a steep off camber right hander so I was ejected over the front and down the bank. It was a combo of me taking the piss/Friston powder/Levo weight. Think my lid might need replacing.

Re: 2022 Riding, mileages and pictures.
8am yesterday went to QE Country Park (near Horndean off the A3) and did a couple of downhill blue runs. With the heat started losing concentration and almost stacked it so quit while I was ahead. Probably didn't take in enough fluid.

Re: 2022 Riding, mileages and pictures.
21 miles tonight of which 15miles were my fitness being handed to me on a plate with polite conversation by a gravel bike rider. I am fooked, shoulders not happy after yesterdays fall off the veranda and then 3 pints at the pub and home over the Downs wasn't pleasant. On top of that I’m now leading a 3 day trip across Dartmoor in early October. Think I’m gonna need vita-rays and Captain America serum. Either that or an E Bike

HAs your fitness dropped ? Re: 2022 Riding, mileages and pictures.
Yes it has, but also in my defence (racer book of excuses being opened); it was my third day of riding on the trot and my calf is still sore from dog related ejection last week and my shoulder was complaining all ride after my EBike off yesterday, of my riding buddies, one mate is a superhuman singlespeeder and has been for years, another is training for a sub 12, probably 10hr Sarf Dahns Way in a day and the others are 10 - 15 years younger than me. Mr gravel bike was introduced by the SDWer as “he’s a lot fitter than me” and by fook was he!.weeksy wrote: ↑Thu Aug 11, 2022 6:44 amHAs your fitness dropped ? Re: 2022 Riding, mileages and pictures.
Had to ride the hybrid to work today as the T-130 is between rear tyres and the 603 needs a bottom bracket. Haven't ridden it since January, but I really enjoyed it. All the mtb has clearly helped my fitness as I caught and passed a couple of roadies going up a hill and left them way behind, all good fun.

Re: 2022 Riding, mileages and pictures.
jealous of anyone riding at the moment. I was on good form last weekend when out with @crust but then got the covid19 lurgy and i'm a pile of shite now... riding is not on the radar at all for me currently.
Re: 2022 Riding, mileages and pictures.
Took the trail bike for a run round Hope Valley last Friday. It was a far harder 20 mile ride than the 70 miles on the road bike 2 days later.

Did a 44km loop, it’s a lot busier on a Saturday. Still fun though, dragged a mate out, he was not impressed we had to go up box hill
