Not quite the enjoyable weekend I'd imagined it would be.

Nope, although I've hit upon a plan to keep him subdued. I've lit the woodburning stove, and as usual he's now laying in front of it asleep.
I'm bloody sweltering here and I'm another six foot away but he's got his head on the cool hearth and seems OK. I'd open the kitchen door but then he can hear whats going on outside the back and gets interested if next doors dog barks.
Just hope I don't fall asleep and wake up to find him looking up like a California sun dried raisin.

The last time he bled was maybe an hour ago and it seemed to be less than previous times so its either clotting better now he's less active or he's like by brothers old Triumph and when it stopped leaking oil it meant it was out of oil.

I'm hoping for the former.

Ahh, yeah.
Well, IIRC the last I mentioned it was Saturday night. Was quite hopeful at that point.
Anyway, Sun morning he woke up and true to form fired a load more blood out when be woke up and his gums weren't the usual pink they should be.
Spoke to the vets, sent her a photo of dogs gums (have you ever tried holding a camera with one hand and holding a dogs mouth open witb the other? ) and she reckoned he should be ok but made a Monday morning appointment just in case.
Wife came back from Kendal Calling festival and I went to work Mon.
Dog bled loads more from his knob, when I left to work his gums werent a kick in the arse off being as white as his teeth.
Vet looked him over and it seems that he looks to have had it out (young male, gets an erection several times a day for no apparent reason) and caught it on something sharp, stick in the woods I was walking him in or maybe barbed wire.
Vet stitched his knob up and castrated him in a oner* and he's recovering with only one bit of a bleed since Mon. Blood substitute, on fluids for a while.
Wearing a bloody Onsie so he can't lick and piss about with his stitches, it's like a collar bit he can move about the house a lot better.
Obviously I unbutton his tail end so he can take a slash but he's been well housetrained for a while so I take him out af regular intervals and its OK.


*Wasn't really planning on having him done, it's often used to cure behavioral problems mostly caused by lack of training. Also kind of got a good dog and had a half arsed idea I might want a litter off him a few years down the line, obviously he's a bull lurcher so a litter of pups isn't a cash cow but he's a good looking lad so I was fairly sure we'd not be left with a mass of pups.
That's not happening now but my larl pals still alive and that's by far the most important thing.

Currently he's not allowed off the lead and hes a very active dog so it's driving him nuts.

Today I've been riding my bike, which doesn't sound particularly outstanding, but it's the first time I've ridden it for me than 15 minutes in 3 weeks as I've had a hurty left foot, this has now nearly cleared up, which again doesn't sound much, but on Wednesday I was seriously looking at buying an automatic car (admittedly this was an Evo X) and T-Maxs

I've had an awesome day, and it's only 14:30!!!!

SSD and family were due to arrive yesterday evening, traffic and weather meant they got here quite late so I said I'd go down to meet them for breakfast. My friends with the chalet said, come down for 8am

Ok, but the bus doesn't start till 8, so, well, have to ride the bike down!! LOL Bike started , which meant I was a bit early (left home early enough to walk if it wouldn't start!), so I stopped at C90friend's chalet en route to show him the Monster

Parked up outside the chalet that SSD was staying at only to meet him at the door Awesome breakfast, ridiculous amount of chat. Bit of a walk, there's vintage car/bike meet up here again so looked around that, went up higher and in a cable car, then back down for lunch, then back to the chalet to their car for them to leave.

Short visit but I've been grinning like a grinny thing since he said they would visit and I think I'll be grinning like a grinny thing for a while longer Awesome to catch up with someone I've not seen for so many years and to chat with a friend like I used to chat with all my friends

Not done it yet but....

My Mum had a friend in Norwood Green, Ealing where we lived when I was young. A friend is taking me pillion to find her - I know she hasn't moved, but I don't have her phone number. The friend who is taking me has an Africa Twin so I'm in for a comfortable ride - may listen to some music. We'll stop at The Plough pub for lunch and being pillion, I can have a cider. It will bring back a lot of lovely childhood memories - shame we'll have to do a bit of traffic to get there.

I rode my Monster!! Damn it makes some noises and burbles that I'm not used to!! LOL I'm kind of assuming it's all 'normal for Ducati'!! LOL

I went to Bourg St Maurice via some friends, and when I arrived at my mates shop she asked how the bike is. I replied "well, she burbles, grumbles, coughs and chokes a bit" to which my mate replied "That's what you want isn't it?"

Jess has a background in racing classic cars (mostly off road) so my description of the Monster was perfect to her!! To me, as a modern bike owner (ok, the TLs was the same age as the Monster, but VERY different!!) it's not normal or perfect!!


But, DAMN it was good to be riding. Waiting to see how things feel tomorrow, but I think that mostly things will be ok - the upper/outer bit of my arm is a bit grumpy now but that's totally wiped out by the fact that I'm soooooooooooo happy to have been able to ride to the valley and back

(So much for me being sensible and riding around up here for a bit to make sure all would be well )

Rub skin with a good dose of salt a few hours before cooking, take joint out of fridge at least 30mins before putting in oven. Preheat oven to 220/200 (Normal/fan). Put joint in at this temp for 30 mins before turning down to 180 and cooking at this temp for the rest of the cooking time. Remove from oven and Allow to “rest” 30 mins before carving.

Oh and it’s butchers local pork, not a tescos one.

Yes, that does make a difference. I've been meaning to find a good local butcher and use them for a while now. Must do this. We cook on gas - will that make any difference to the finished product?
