I had a notion at one time of buying another 04/05 ZX10R and fitting mandlebars. That would be a proper riot,I think.
Didn't @Couchy have one something like that a while back?

He did. The 04 ZX10r was my dream bike and I bought it from him. Upset him when I toppled in a gravel trap at Cartegana cos the plastic was no long perfect (but it wasn't going to stay perfect with me!). I sold it when I smashed myself up and moved to France!!Skub wrote: Wed Jul 27, 2022 4:43 pm I had a notion at one time of buying another 04/05 ZX10R and fitting mandlebars. Bloody gorgeous bike. I'd have another in a heartbeat if I had a garage to store it in (and all the others that my dream garage needs to be able to fit!)

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
Back in the day my LC had a three-quarter Pantah style fairing and I toured France, Spain and Portugal twice on it. I got a bit twitchy in Central Spain as I was on reserve and couldn't find a petrol station. Eventually I did, but it was touch and go. But as it is now, standard and unfaired, I suspect I'd find it a bit tiring. I've also got to learn to trust it for long journeys without breaking down...Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: Wed Jul 27, 2022 4:24 pmI really liked my LCs for long journeys, they were very comfortable, fast enough and light, but they were thirsty for both petrol and oil, didn't matter in the 80s, but 25-30mpg would be expensive now.mangocrazy wrote: Wed Jul 27, 2022 12:51 pmI do, but it's not a bike I do big distances on any more. I'm seriously thinking of selling the 888 and possibly even the VFR, and an SV would fill the gap.
I've ridden early SVs, they're alright, but I've never had a strong desire to buy one, the power delivery is a bit meh.
Never ridden an SV, so that would have to be done before I even thought about taking the plunge. Do they do big bore kits?

We did a tour down to Spain on my raving YPVS. Handled it well. Apart from head gasket blowing and covering my bare legs in oil.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: Wed Jul 27, 2022 4:24 pmI really liked my LCs for long journeys, they were very comfortable, fast enough and light, but they were thirsty for both petrol and oil, didn't matter in the 80s, but 25-30mpg would be expensive now.mangocrazy wrote: Wed Jul 27, 2022 12:51 pmI do, but it's not a bike I do big distances on any more. To work yesterday morning!

It was a tad chilly, tad chilly + cold tyres = fartbox twitching like a rabbits nose moment

What tyres are on the bike, I’m assuming not a pure road tyre as that let go at not much lean angle, tbh I’d be thinking something on the road as even cold tyres don’t really do that unless wet

Funny you/he sees this.... I nearly binned it last night, we had the lightest and i do mean the lightest smattering when i was out... you could barely see it... but 2 corners later i lost the back.... then a bit later the front went a little.... I mean i could still ride on the middle of the lane and it was bone dry... it really wasn't wet wet.. no rain on the bike, just a few bits on the visor.... I've not had a feeling like that before. I've got S21s.Couchy wrote: Thu Jul 28, 2022 8:38 am What tyres are on the bike, I’m assuming not a pure road tyre as that let go at not much lean angle, tbh I’d be thinking something on the road as even cold tyres don’t really do that unless wet

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
I’m thinking the banding on the road where two separate patches join, had a nose this morning and there is a few in that area. Definitely a combination of that and cold tyres as it was only 4 degrees. Not sure what lean angle it started at but it got to 43 degrees according to the display, I’ve done that bit many times with no issues but maybe not quite like that at 4 degrees.Couchy wrote: Thu Jul 28, 2022 8:38 am What tyres are on the bike, I’m assuming not a pure road tyre as that let go at not much lean angle, tbh I’d be thinking something on the road as even cold tyres don’t really do that unless wet
I moved the car for the wife before leaving and the car was telling me 9 degrees because it didn’t have time to adjust and that tricked me but when I had left I was thinking “fuck me it feels colder than 9”………..
The tyres are Michelin Power RS

Ha! Maximum of 16° today, but with a 40% chance of rain, which it's doing at the moment,so no bike today. In fact the weekend and beyond looks shit, but they've been wrong before!

13 degrees this morning, mental the difference day to day here. Freeze your baws off in the morning and burn tons crisp in the afternoon then vice versa the next day.

Haven't ridden the bike since coming back from the Island!
Only took one pic of the bike there too!
This was at Laxey beach.

I'd be interested to know what traction aids were in operation on the bikes when you guys had your slides.

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
Mine was set to DTC 2 +7 and wasn’t activated, that’s because it wouldn’t have detected a difference in speed between the front and rear wheel as it was a slide as oppose to the rear stepping out due to spinning up, no DTC torque reduction or traction light flashing.
As I said a combination of cold tyre, cold temp and banding on the road or similar, similar to hitting ice DTC ain’t going to do shit.
