WHAT IS SCIENCE OF BEING SEEN? SOBS is my in-depth investigation into the 'Sorry Mate, I Didn't See You (SMIDSY) collision between motorcycles and other vehicles. Created in 2012 for Kent Fire & Rescue as the third module of the pilot Biker Down courses, our team was awarded a Prince Michael of Kent International Road Safety Award later that year.

SOBS has gone international. I've taken the presentation out to New Zealand, and I've delivered it live online to a US audience as part of the REVVtalks series in 2019, and here at home for the RoadSafetyGB powered two wheeler safety fortnight in 2021.

Since 2020, I have been delivering a version of SOBS as part of my monthly LIVE ONLINE TALK SERIES. The FULL SOBS presentation alternates with a more in-depth look at a specific part of the issues of visual perception and conspicuity.
