This thread will end the usual way, with Greenie suddenly being asked questions about morality of profits, limitations of corporate reach, etc. and he'll then simply stop posting as he realises he's painted himself into corner.

"The oil and gas industry has delivered $2.8bn (£2.3bn) a day in pure profit for the last 50 years, a new analysis has revealed.

The vast total captured by petrostates and fossil fuel companies since 1970 is $52tn, providing the power to “buy every politician, every system” and delay action on the climate crisis, says Prof Aviel Verbruggen, the author of the analysis. The huge profits were inflated by cartels of countries artificially restricting supply"

On the other side of the coin though...

Oil companies are only able to make such big profits 'cause they have such big sales. If you and I didn't buy oil or products which rely on it's use (so that's pretty much everything then...) they wouldn't have a market. Every time someone suggests using less oil, in any one of a million ways, they're branded a virtue signaller or a yoghurt weaver.

To a very large extent IMO, you make your own bed.

No, the point is that "huge profits were inflated by cartels of countries artificially restricting supply".

Loads of businesses do that. Fancy watches and diamonds are two which come to mind.

If you didn't want it so bad their efforts wouldn't be as effective.

Start with the beginning of evolution of all animals, humans included.
Fixed that for you in a depressing but invariably true manner.

Yeah agreed but evolution is just what it says on the tin - to evolve - we need to keep evolving as a species, not start eating each other!

Someone will be born with a characteristic that enables or causes them to have more progeny than others and those progeny will carry that same characteristic.
