Superduke R - limp mode

Post by Trogladyte »

Don't you hate intermittent issues?

It's just done this for the second time.

Went for a ride, and everything warmed up nicely. Stopped for fuel. Showed "MTC error" on startup. Then, as I pulled away "TC Error" and engine light and TC light both on. Bike went into limp mode - no high rpm power, no quickshifter, no rider modes. I rode it home, and on a restart after 10 minutes everything was normal. No TC light. Engine light went out after 3 heat cycles.

Identical today - stopped for fuel, and then MT fail, TC fail, and limp mode. This time I tried stopping, switching everything off and restarting, but still in limp mode.

Just started it again after a couple of hours. All good - no TC light and no limp mode.

Any thoughts?

Bad reading from the turbo encapsuator?

Seriously....poor connection to a sensor or the black box ( or even a por chassis earth.).

Thanks.

Interesting. I've had MTC Fail before due to poor battery connections, but it's always been on starting from cold. Checked battery connections yesterday, and they seemed ok, but snugged them up.

Not a terrible number then...

What i'd try is plugging it into a charger and seeing if you get the startup message so it's getting a little more juice at startup time.

But, as you'll have no doubt seen on KTM forums by now.... these things happen with 1290s.

Had it on my GT after it had sat during lock down. Fitted the Healtech exhaust flap eliminator and that solved it.
