Bugger you Tricky! Yesterday I found myself reading the MCN group test of the Kymco, BMW, Honda cross over scoots and then last night found myself looking at 250-400 scoots on ebay

It will be done- I suspect the speeds attained won't be quite as high as @wull 's, but it will sound fast (or just knobby and irritating, dependant on your PoV )

Well, the little minx is just about done, almost ready for a road test and MOT etc, just have to sort the brakes.
After its extended lay-up, both levers came back to the bar and were having no effect, they refused to bleed with no fluid coming back down at the caliper so something was obviously up in both master cylinders, and once I got them off and on the bench, I could see that the little bleed hols in the chambers themselves had completely furred up with smeg, which I guess is through water developing and alloy corrosion.
I had hoped that a good old strip, clean and blow out with the airline would bring them back to life, but unfortunately the brake master cylinder seals have also shrunk over the years it had been standing, so currently the situation is that I'm waiting for those to arrive.
I did however have a brand new Blembo RCS in the garage, so I thought I'd just pop that on and see if it bled before stripping the calipers too, and sure enough, I didn't even have to crack the caliper bleed nipple- a few pumps and I had a lovely firm lever.
Although the feeling at the lever is good and not rock-hard wooden as assumed it would be (it has an 18mm piston, the standard one is 11mm....) it will almost certainly have to come off as I'm sure in practice it will be too much, and might even make the brake stick on.
I think it looks cool though, so have left it on for the moment- I'll run it around the block once I have a working rear brake and decide after that whether it stays or the refurbed standard one goes back on.
As for the rest, I chucked a litre or so of white vinegar in the fuel tank, swooshed it around and left it overnight and that came up nicely, so it all went back together with a new fuel tap and the newly re-cleaned carb, and after a little bit of fettling, she's running a treat
I've treated it to a new rear number plate as the original is a bit scabby and it's had a little bit of a clean so as soon as the master cylinder bits arrive I'll run it around the lanes to check all's well and get it along for an MOT along with the LC and get them both road legal again.
Next after that will be to procure a decent exhaust ( will likely be the TechiGas one), and run it down to my dyno man with that and the big carb and a handful of jets etc and see if we can release a few more of those ferocious ponies that are undoubtedly lurking inside

I'd guess the same as citric acid, to clean up any rust that's lurking.
