Believe me when I say, employers who do not recocognise unions have the same philosophy.JamJar wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 10:06 amIf the unions didn't negotiate the pay then the companies would hire the cheapest people they could not the best.Mussels wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 7:59 am If it's so rubbish why are you still working there? If the unions didn't regulate your pay and conditions then people would leave and the train companies would have to improve things to recruit and keep higher skilled specialists, you would end up better paid at the expense of less skilled workers who are easy to recruit.
Rail unions just want to keep the workforce numbers and their subscriptions high, that drives down wages.

It all depends on whether those employees add value. But I am not sure if that has ever been any different - Labour or Conservative, public sector or private sector. If you fit tyres at Halfords, you get the going rate - or a little bit less if they can get away with it.gremlin wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 10:49 amBelieve me when I say, employers who do not recocognise unions have the same philosophy.JamJar wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 10:06 amIf the unions didn't negotiate the pay then the companies would hire the cheapest people they could not the best.Mussels wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 7:59 am If it's so rubbish why are you still working there? If you are the CEO of Halfords and have hugely increase shareholder value then you get more than the going rate.
If you are Dido Harding , and working in the cicil service, you get paid a lot, spend a lot and deliver nothing.

I'm probably gonna get flamed for this but on here if your private sector/section is rising 5 times as fast as normal isn't that a time for celebration?...

Well mine has risen like a fucking pitta bread lately, so I'll keep the bubbly on ice for the time being.
