My Whyte came with these code re brakes, I've never ridden any bike with SRAM transmission and brakes so it was all a bit new to be Vs the XT stuff that I've ridden for a long time.
The codes are an interesting one because most internet posts say they're shite and the first thing you should do is bin them and buy hopes. Yet most industry reviews say that they are great and excellent value for money
Once the pads were bedded in properly by getting them really hot, I found the standard pads fine. And then I bled them and they went from fine to pretty darned good. Most of my riding had been fod, bpw, cwmcarn, and a trip to Snowdonia and I've never had an issue. These brakes don't have that on/off feeling that XTs have, they are a touch more progressive which means that the 'comfort braking' that I tend to do doesn't actually do very much in slowing me down, which is a good thing really.
I've just replaced the pads with galfer ebike pads. Choosing galfer for no other reason than they came up first in a Google search and were the right price.
Since fitting these pads I've had to bleed them a couple of times because I didn't get it quite right first time, but now that they are set up right and the pads bedded in, these brakes are shit hot and I'm really quite impressed with them.
As a side benefit I'm going down hill faster because I've got more confidence in my ability to scruff speed off
