Breaking news: Alex Rins joins LCR Honda for 2023 & 2024 MotoGP seasons

Post by weeksy »

It’s now official, three-time MotoGP race winner Alex Rins will join LCR Honda at the end of this season after signing a two-year deal.

With Suzuki’s MotoGP exit now official, Rins and LCR Honda have become the latest domino to fall in the 2023 rider market.

When the announcement of Suzuki’s intention to leave MotoGP at the end of 2022 was made following Jerez, rumours linking the Spaniard to possible seats at Gresini Ducati and the new RNF Aprilia project were intense.

But with current team-mate Joan Mir also expected to sign for Honda in the form of its Repsol Honda team, LCR quickly tuned into the most likely landing spot for Rins, before the former Moto3 and Moto2 runner-up officially put pen to paper.

“I am very happy to be joining the LCR Honda Team. Changing team and bike is a challenge but I am ready to give my 100% and to put into practice everything that I’ve learnt during my years in the MotoGP class.

Sounds like a match made in crashfest heaven.

Rins binned the 'easy to ride' Suzook quite a lot,the Honda will be much less forgiving.

Hmm. That Suzuki looked (although increasing less so) a sweet bike to ride. The Honda looks like an absolute disaster. But I'm guessing with Yamaha only running 2 bikes now as well there aren't many choices where the money will be good and which have proper factory backing.

I really hope Honda can sort their shit out as it's a bit pants them running around at the back all the time. On paper Marc, Rins and Mir make a great choice of riders but if the bike is rubbish it'll be for nought.

I wonder if Yamaha will create another B team? They've always had one and it will surely benefit them?

Suzuki are out of the game,Honda have built a fast camel no one can ride, only Fabio makes the Yamaha look good,KTM is adrift and lost and although the Aprilia is much improved,it's not 100% there yet.

Still Ducati can't win the championship.

The Fab Frog and MM have shown it's often the rider, not the bike.

Based on that, you'd have to wonder just how bad the Honda is,when even MM can't get a result. We know he's not totally fit,but that's not the whole story.
