My errand as a kid was to run to the shop and get 20 Rothman for my mum or 'Arf ounce of Golden Ginny and a packet of reds' for my dad.

The change usually went on that sweetened coconut shred stuff which I think was called 'Chewing tobacco'. It was lovely.

To this day I've never smoked. :angelic-green:

I started out at 12 on Park Drive,no filter. I used No.6 and Embassy through my teens. I packed them in at 19

Replace Golden Virgin with Old Holborn and you'd have my childhood trips to the shop, lazy feckers my parents.

My dad smoked Erinmore in a pipe. I hated it and once refused to get in the car as he smoked driving.
He just belted me round the head and pushed me in.
It happened again but my mum saw that one.

She tried but he still wouldn't stop smoking in the car.

I won in the end, but it's a long story.

My grandad used to make rollies out of 'Digger' pipe tobacco (which I got sent to buy). He had a bad chest and blamed it on 'pit dust'....lol. Didn't live to a ripe old age.

No 6 was the new tab on the block...Woodbines were the ones in singles and packets of 5. I think a single was 2d.

My dad used to smoke Clan in his pipe. Fucking horrible it was. I can't recall if he was allowed to smoke it in the car but it's pretty much all I could smell all the time anyway.

I remember buying Park Drive in packs of 5. A 5 pack and a book of matches was 5p. The only time I smoked No6 was when I pinched one from my sister, Embassy and Gold Leaf were my usual brands. I was 12 or 13 when I started but I didn't stop till I was 40.

I smoked five Hamlets in a row after drinking six pints down the local club when I was 16.

Didn't smoke again after that.

Took this on the phone coming back from Yambo’s last week. More of a fluke than anything.
