Pretty sure it has a Bimota trellis frame, swingarm, tank and seat along with uprated wheels, suspension and brakes. Bodywork (what's left of it) is Bimota, and I'm not sure of the provenance of the exhaust system but it definitely isn't Ducati.

So the only identifiable Ducati component remaining is the motor. Hardly 'just a 900SS'...

To you. To me it's a 900ss. Maybe with some monster looking frame, but it's jumping out at me as a bitsa/home build rather than a special factory build.

That was pretty much what they used to do, whether Ducati, Kawasaki or Suzuki, kept the engine and binned the rest. Well, probably never bought the rest

I'm glad you like my build.
Since there is speculation about which model it is, here are a few facts:
In 2006 I bought a Bimota DB2, I always wanted this model. Since the Bimota was very messed up, I wanted to restore it to its original condition. However, over time I didn't like the parts anymore and decided to do my own thing.
Only the frame, the swingarm and the engine remained. I built everything else myself with my dad over the course of 14 years. In the meantime I've rebuilt the brakes again and now I'm enjoying the Bimota and having fun.
In 2 weeks the WDW will be in Misano, I'll be there and maybe we'll see each other.

I absolutely love your re-interpretation of the DB2. It looks lovely - light, lithe and very stylish. And I imagine it's a delight to ride as well. What does it weigh? I'd guess about 180-190 kg wet, which is ideal.

No, last year a major German motorcycle magazine did a big article about my Bimota and also picked it up for photos and tests. The DB2 was weighed and with an almost full tank the weight was 140 kg.

What did I do on my Bimota:

• new cylinders with 966ccm and they have been specially treated on the surface, they have also been bored out for double ignition
  then made-to-measure pistons from the German piston forge Wösner
  39 Keihin flatslide carburetors
  digital ignition from Kurpass
  Magnesium Marchesini wheels
  Tank volume 11 liters
  new special short mufflers from the German exhaust manufacturer Hattech according to specification
  Öhlins suspension (I chose a conventional fork to do something "old style".

The tank with 11 liters was the right decision, currently I need about 4.9 liters at normal pace and if I step on the gas I have 5.3 liters consumption. This brings me about 195 KG to the reserve and about 235 KM until I run out of fuel I had to test it because I had no experience of how far I could really get and how long the reserve would last.

I fill up with it just like my colleagues with their big bikes .... I think, however, that I have more fun on our playing field ... in the Italian mountains (South Tyrol, Dolomites, Lake Garda, etc.)

this picture was taken in May this year when I had my first big ride with the Bimota and everything went perfectly.
Had a few attempts last year when I was finished and something else was broken again and again ... mainly the electrics ... unfortunately I don't have a hand for this

140kg That's lighter than my 690 Duke was, good going. Must be a great bike to ride in the twisties being that light and with a fair bit of go now too

Hi @shucy - 140kgs is bonkers (but in a very good way!) That is the same weight as my old RD350LC, but with more than twice the power and way better brakes and handling. To me, removing weight and adding lightness is the best thing you can do to any bike. Everything benefits and you don't need silly amounts of power to have a very rapid bike.

And it looks great, as well.

That's abeautiful looking bike.I always liked the style of the Ducati F2 bikes from back in the 80's,but this Bimota seems to be even better.

I think it's gorgeous. There's a simplicity about the air-cooled twins that the watercooled motors just can't match, no matter how many more hp they deliver.

Weight much the same as my Honda 250 single
