Non Japanese scooters

Post by Tomcat »

As a rule of thumb most of us would say "buy Japanese and it'll be reet". But for 125cc scootays there isn't a whole lot Japanese out there. So what do we think of the Chinese/Taiwanese/etc lesser known brands? Worth a punt or don't touch with Yorick's wooden leg? ;)

Do Honda not still make the SH125?

I hear anecdotal evidence that Lexmoto aren't bad. If you are buying new, there's a couple of years warranty as a safety net.

Personally I'd prefer a clean used SH over a new Chinese scoot.

Don't Kymco make scoots for Kawasaki? Pretty sure they do.

Yamaha and Honda make 125 scoots as well so that's at least 3 outta 4.

Unless you mean they make them but not many are sold.

the internet says the Top 10 125 scooters in 2021 were:

Lexmoto Titan. £1299.
Sym Crox 125. £2149.
Kymco Agility City Plus 125. £2299.
Piaggio Liberty 125. £2700.
Peugeot Speedfight 4 125. £2849.
Honda PCX125. £3169.
Suzuki Burgman 125. £3799.
Honda Forza 125. £4899.

These are listed in cost order rather than VFM / Rating.
I hear PCX's are flying out of the showroom as the big favourite scoot of choice for last mile couriers..

I like the look of those and even made enquiries. They were 'taking orders'.

The go to recommendation for a 125 ped is the Honda PCX 125. Good build quality and fairly bombproof engine however pricey to buy and even more so to fix if they get dropped due to the acres of plastics.

Next up i would say the Peugeot Speedfight. Now 4T instead of the older 2t models which are a little nippier but a bit more fragile engine wise

Kymco and Lexmoto are probably among the best of the Chinese/Taiwan brands
