For me,Le Tour is one of the highlights of Summer.It's a mix of the highest level cycle racing & the worlds best travel show & I look forward to it every year.
That bridge yesterday was impressive & it was good see Jakobsen take the win .
I'm looking forward to the 'Roubax' stage & the finish on La Super Planche Des Belles Filles later this week.
Not a fan of the GCN coverage with that bloke who pronounces everyone's name in a comedy pronounced accent attempting to sound like he's a native & I keep hitting the mute button eveytime Wiggo turns up.I'm watching on ITV4 today,far less irritating,might have to cancel the GCN+ subscription ...
The ITV4 coverage is v good. I like the commentary a lot.
If I'd been putting a team together in recent years I think I'd get dibs on Jonathan Castroviejo first pick and work from there. He's an absolute one man engine room.

He tried to squeeze up on the barrier but there wasn't enough room and the other guy wasn't going to make any. I think he thought his line was stolen but he didn't really have a clear line. Still pointed a finger but then, he often does when he gets it wrong or people don't just get out of his way.
Nothing much from Caleb Ewan but none of them had a lead out train left as far as I could see so it was mano a mano.

Yeah Ewan disappointing again, Fabio Jak also completely read it wrong, I thought WvA could have had 1-2 more pedal strokes and that may have given him the win.

Yeah its a bit lumpy which could make a break interesting, it's 11.5km from the last lump to the line. I think 5-6of the puncheurs will be going either on that hill or the one before it, someone like your Nils Pollit, Pidcock, MvDP, Stuyven, etc.... That's where my money is for today. Whether Wout van Aert will go with them or hold the bunch, i don't know

I think the commentators were suggesting that one of the most interesting things today is what WvA does as it will clarify his intent. Early doors though but that evolution over the days is one of the key things of the Tour...it's like a novel rather than a short story.

I think in simple terms, like Pogacar he's waiting for the tall stuff... This is just an inconvenience for those guys really, just something to get through until hitting the stuff that matters.
I suppose it's mainly about staying in one piece and in touch until the uppy-downy bits. Still, nice to watch and one thing I like is that the drunk, nut-job spectators stay away from the flatter stages.
Shame ITV don't have the same standard of coverage of the Vuelta. Tried watching that last year and it was awful. (Or was it the Giro? Can't remember).

MvdP for me today, he'll be fed up of WvA getting all the plaudits. It's not as long a race as the Spring Classics so I'll throw my hat in for a group of Puncheurs to head off after the intermediate sprint and the main action in the peloton will be racing into the cobbled sections trying to stay out of trouble. Maybe a few small splits at the finish but nothing too decisive.
No KOM points today so Magnus can have a rest up for tomorrow.
