"we're currently changing settings on the services".
Not that that helps us much...
I'm currently speaking to a new provider.

It's patchy. Sails along fine, then sometimes refuses to play.

Re: Backend Webserver Unreachable / performance issues.
Aye, I hear you.
I've been in discussions with the host he recommends and still am.
They're looking not too different in price to our current host.
However if we move now, we obviously have to spend an outlay in cash and we lose 6-7 months worth with our current hosts.
This was from our tech mate.Hi Steve
To be honest I think you would be better off finding a decent host who will migrate it for you for free. As i said before I use http://my.kualo.com/uk/go/00913 and have done for 6 years now. My renewal is due in a couple of months and I will be renewing for another 3 years.
Support is first rare, and if you give them conformation of you cancelling your existing contract you get 3 or 6 months added on a 3yr contract.
Drop them an email, describe your issues and what needs to be transferred (database and total file sizes) and they will be more than happy to help.
Of course I could migrate it for you, but it will not be anywhere near as quick as all the attachments need to be downloaded first, then uploaded to the new server which is governed by the speed of my internet. Kualo on the other hand have the ability to transfer files at gigabit speed.
Hope that helps

Re: Backend Webserver Unreachable / performance issues.
Given it was running OK until the recent issues and the sunk costs, I'd be inclined to give the current lot a couple of weeks to see if they sort it. I suppose if they're a real shambles they could lose everything though? Tough one. Kualo does sound better.

Re: Backend Webserver Unreachable / performance issues.
The current host has been mostly ok until very recently. What's their reputation like,is it worth persevering for a couple of weeks to see if things improve?

Re: Backend Webserver Unreachable / performance issues.
Tbh mate I don't know. We could look into that I guess. Back when I set this place up I expected to get 5 people and close it within 3 months, so I didn't do a heck of a lot in the way of research, hindsight is a wonderful tool of course.

I could live with with it a while longer but I think others have had it worse than me.

Hosting.co.uk
Is our host and they score 4.9/5 on Google reviews but not many are recent. Overall they've been far from terrible, but I get frustrated for you lot when it's not working, you're the ones who've put your hands in your pocket for it
I also feel it hurts my reputation and people think "FFS you wanker, sort it out" but that may be harsh on myself lol

I'm happy to give it a couple of weeks to see how it goes. Not really worrying me.

Re: Backend Webserver Unreachable / performance issues.
Unless it goes proper shit I'd be tempted to use up our 6-7 months of credit then jump ship just before renewal.
But then I have a Scottish surname and I live in Yorickshire...
