I like the "sleeper" thing.
My beemer has lowered suspension and a lip spoiler added (necessary to keep it in check) but otherwise looks standard.
I am highly amused when I see the faces of drivers in performance cars (and occasionally bikes) when they think they are fucking off into the distance do a double take as I'm still right with them.

Getting very expensive though, I have been considering a classic as my next car for amusement at lower speeds / higher mpg.

I find it gets more subtle, more of a fast ride without dodgy overtaking or bouncing through hedges because of a rubbish 'upgrade'.

I find it gets more subtle, more of a fast ride without dodgy overtaking or bouncing through hedges because of a rubbish 'upgrade'.

Aye "A little play" occasionally rather than the bravery / stupidity of youth.

I've had one minor scrape (non fault) in my current car in almost six years of ownership. 25 years ago I couldn't have lasted six days without parking it in a cloud or something lol

That wee Fiat Seicento the wife has went like shit off a shovel and embarrassed a lot of folk in more powerful cars. Not a lot of big straight roads round my way and not a lot of folk who know how to drive fast unless they are in a straight line. Boy racers would be all over the road on there shitty little Corsa's as the car started to flex on the bents. Bloody Fiat was on rails and was so low to the ground it never went out of shape. I only blew the head gasket once on that car what was surprising. Wife has a VW Fox now what has an extra 100cc and about 5 horses more but quite sluggish in comparison.

Ex wife had a Cinquecento sporting that was fun to drive (head gasket went on that too lol) but they are nippy little fun cars rather than actually fast. Not as fun as the original mini cooper we had with a few upgrades, that was a road legal go kart lol

Had a sporty Clio stick with me through the local back lanes though, as you say a much more powerful car, that's also bigger and heavier, is not the king on every road.

I had a yellow Cinquecento Sporting too.

As I've said on here before, in it's own mind that car was a Ferrari. It wasn't (obviously) but it definitely thought it was.

On the road it's 99% about how brave/foolish you are anyway IMO.

Wifes Seicento was a sporting also. It seen 105 on the clock so probably closer to 96 before running out off puff. Had it not been so rotten we would have still had it but with the Punto 1.2 in it for that bit extra fun.

Funny how perception changes, as a young driver I would be like "ahhh, he's got a faster car but he bottled it lol, I'm great"

Now I'm the Dad age guy in a fast car thinking "you go for it lad, I'm not going that far risking my car / licence / health to try to impress an idiot" and leaving them to think they're a hero.

Test drove a few - they were lovely. They were focused.
Driving down to Chichester to buy an immaculate Caymen, It took me 2.5 hours from Shoreham, because of traffic - in which time I had convinced myself that having a sports car ins the SE is absolutely pointless.

I have a soccer-mum's SUV - however it does have 315 bhp ( more that the cayman) and is only 0.1 sec slower 0-60). But I can get the dog in the back, get out of it easily to do the shopping, and it is comfortable on long journeys.

It is a bit of what used to be called a "Q" car.
