When I was in MK I used to go to Woburn Woods - but I think that is a bit jumpy as well - and Center Parcs!

Buy all means have that on the list to do - but I would ride somewhere more testing that the current stuff - but less likely to damage you ...

Chicksands is a BIG step up compared to Oaks. I'm not saying NO... but... well, be aware.

Me and the small one are doing Rogate on the 2nd July if you fancy, there's easy, mid and impossible trails.

Is it? Oh, i thought it looked like there were enough blue/red trails to make it worth the trip. Maybe a few more days at twisted oaks might be better then!

I’ll take a look at Rogate, though it’s about 100 miles from me so would be a long old day. I’ll check the calendar and see.

Cheers for that - yep there’s still plenty at the local place to practice on - quite a few runs had features I avoided. Having fun is all well and good, but getting broken is just inconvenient!

Converted the tyres to tubeless last night - I did originally try a day earlier, but the tyre beat me. Got both done pretty easily last night although the rear took a few goes to 'pop' and I can feel it in my arms today!

Had a few holes in the rear which the sealant dealt with almost immediately, otherwise we're all good - think 27 is a bit over-inflated though, so I'll drop that down a bit for the weekend.

Put some fresh brake pads in as well and they're bedding in nicely - just have to give the brakes a bleed and that'll be them sorted. Hopefully the SRAM adapter I ordered will fit perfectly...

Had a fun ride yesterday, don't know what I ran over, but it sounded like the valve core had come out. Just kept on riding and riding and riding...and after a while the tyre was all sealed up again.

Bike looked a state but at least I still had air in the tyre!

Then this morning I managed to ride through a big pile of dog shit, and had to clean that off, but sadly didn't bother with any pictures

I remembered Rockshox have a website for working out base settings for your suspension so ended up putting a bit more air in the shock and changing the rebound a bit (more hare, less tortoise apparently). So far so good. It's feeling more like my bike now.

I don't Strava every ride, but riding the t-130 seems to be about 4 minutes faster over the same route than the 603 which is pretty good.

Apparently, according to a local FB group, there's some trails been built in some woods nearby so me and a guy from work are off there at the weekend to see what's going on.

Not my week for punctures this week, had one on the rear this morning that wouldn’t seal. It’s a pretty big hole so new tyre time I think.

It’s a maxxis rekon 2.6 ( it’s a high roller II on the front). Is there something better I can put on, or should I just put another rekon back on?

Tyres are all personal preferenece in honesty, Rekons are perfectly fine.

I run an Assegai and a DHR/DHF usually, but i don't commute on it.

Went to thetford forest for the first time on Monday, it's only 30 miles away so was there nice and early and had a good ride round on the red trail from high lodge before it got too hot.

Lots of berms, a few rocks, and lots of little jumps. Was lots of fun, just need a free weekend to get back for another go!

This hasn't moved much in a couple of weeks, but checking it last night ready for the southern enduro at twisted oaks this coming weekend, I found the cranks were a bit stiff and didn't really want to rotate.

Chain off and loosened the preload ring and it was better, but this morning still wasn't spinning completely free, so will have the cranks out later for a clean and have a new bottom bracket on it's way for delivery tomorrow just in case. I wanted an uberbike one, but they only use Royal mail who are striking for the next couple of days so just a standard sram one from wiggle it is.

Dpeding on it you can whip off the dust cover, then the bearing cover, then throw a bit of grease in it.

I don't think the dub bottom brackets are serviceable but if I can get it out I'll see if I can sneak some more grease in. Probably have to wait until tomorrow though as the removal tool is arriving with the new bb.

Got the replacement BB and tool, but the existing one seems to be behaving better now and rotating nicely without any knocks, bumps or grinding. The replacement and some tools are coming to the southern enduro this sunday just in case though!

Also found that the lower jockey wheel wasn't moving very well. Taking it off, the bearings weren't enjoying moving at all so we've got some new jockey wheels in and are all good and ready for sunday.

Yep it's entirely possible

Though the bike hasn't really gone anywhere over the past few weeks - it's done a lot of sitting, but has also done a sandy twisted oaks and a wet muddy local ride with 2 washes in between. I'm guessing I didn't get all the water out and it needed a bit of use!

After a day out at twisted oaks at the start of January, it turned out that the BB did need replacing - although not knackered the previous one is past it's best - so just when I thought I'd send the replacement back for a refund I had to fit it. On the plus side, it's now lovely and smooth.

In getting the cranks out and tighening/loosening the preload ring it became fairly obvious that the plastic ring and (especially) the 2mm bolt is horrible and needs replacing. Rather than just buy another sram preload ring with a made of cheese bolt, I went for a muc-off preload ring instead which has a nice stainless bolt. The preload ring itself is aluminium too.

I was back at twisted oaks at the weekend - we arrived early so we got some time to practice jumps/drops before it got busy (and it did get busy!), and I managed to clear a table jump, which for me is pretty impressive. Just being happy with the feeling of the bike being in the air and feet not coming off the pedals was progress. They also have a line there which is just drops, nothing too big (maybe 2ft at most), but the landing drops away so it's deceptive - and I'm happily doing all those now too. Nothing too impressive, especially when there's 8 year olds doing backflips, but it's progress for me and it was loads of fun so that'll do me.

I was at twisted oaks on Sunday - a nice early start to get there before everyone else. It was bloody cold though!

After a couple of visits of not wanting to attempt the large drop (in the top left), I finally managed it and did the one to the right of it too. We got talking to another guy who was flying over all the jump lines and followed him down, really helpful to have a gauge on the right speed.

The gaps were super easy in the end, as long as you don't brake, you've done it. You're going pretty fast by the time you land as well!

We did these lines a few times, and tried the table tops which follow on from the gaps, that went well for a couple of goes, but I ended up hitting it a bit too fast and although I cleared the table comfortably, my feet weren't on the pedals and it ended badly with me on the floor and an ankle that grew a golf ball in about 30 seconds! Called it a day after that but really happy with the progress - we'd been going faster on the trails, and had been clearing shorter tables consistently so all going well.

Importantly though, the bike was fine after the crash.

No breaks, just lots and lots of bruising. Was all done in 2 hours which is impressive. Got a few shades of purple all round the inside of my foot, and a nice new set of ankle protectors!
