If you're serious about wanting a light touring bike that can do 2-up and has its dedicated luggage, then why not have a look at an MV Agusta 800 Turismo Veloce?

I know it's 'only' an 800, but it does make 110 bhp and has a quoted dry weight of 192kg, so shouldn't be short of go. And they've been in production long enough for more sensibly-priced examples to appear on the used market.

Had a read of the multi reviews and some say the 950 is not far off the 12, 0 - 100 mph. I'd imagine the 12 would be the better bike for 2 up and 100 +.

What's the big service intervals on them. ?

Anyone rode both. ?

The big desmo/belt service is at 15k. Other than that they're just like a Jap bike

That was the pre-DVT's. I knows cos I was going to buy one.

Tho' I think the DVT' is similar. The v4's don't even have belts, very un-Ducati, get one of them :)

I've been reading quite a lot about the 950 multi and many of the reviews say that for many people, it's a better bike than the 1200 for having less power. Personally I don't want or need the power of the 1200 for commuting where about 100 hp is more than enough so that kind of makes sense to me

Reviews say that the 950 service intervals are 9k miles but details of what's involved and what they cost is a bit muddled.

Other bikes I've been looking at include the Africa twin, BMW 900xr and the tracer. For me the multi is winning at the moment

Service intervals on mine is 7500 and desmo/belts at 15000. The DVT 1200 engined bikes are 9000 and 18,000 which is the same as the 950 V2. I should say that according to an independent tech i spoke to they all use the same part number on the belts so the older ones should also be good for 18000 ;) The V4's are 16,000 and 32,000 for the major service but no belts or desmo just regular valves etc.

Costs wise a main dealer will be expensive for the big belt service, an independent will be cheaper which i what i use as i have a really good one fairly local to me.

@Taff Here is a link to Ducati main dealer prices for the 1200. According to that list about 750 for the big one including fluids like brake and clutch .... from memory my independent does it for about 600

Bobby who used to be on VD/TRC has just gone from 1200 and then 1250 GS Beemers to a Multistrada V2 and reckons its the best bike he has ever owned.

I have yet to ride the smaller engined Multi but have ridden the smaller Panigale and found it a fairly punchy engine but the little panigale was lighter and smaller ....too small for me physically to be comfortable on it until it got to about 80 mph and the airflow took the weight off the wrists

The 950 Multi has a higher seat height than the 1200, if that’s a factor for you worth bearing in mind. It’s cos it’s based on the 1200 Enduro chassis for some reason.

My mate is selling his 2014 KTM 1190 Adv R if you like those sorts of bikes. Got an extra's list as long as my arm as well.

Thanks for this, I did find that price list yesterday afternoon but the key piece of information that I didn't have is that it's essentially the same as the 1200 so thanks for that 👍
