Remember them?

Post by Bustaspoke »

At the local bike meet the other day & there was a good selection of bikes from my youth,a few models of which I hadn't seen in years,KH350,GT380 to name a couple. Here's a few photo's.
Image
When I saw this I commented to one of my mates that I couldn't remember when I last saw a GT380,within the hour another two turned up..
Yet another Panzer photobombing the scene..

Image
A couple of 350 Kwack's were there, this heavily modified one & a more original one with Denco pipes in the background

Image
Not sure how many Roberts YPVS LC's were painted but it was a while since I last saw one

Image
Or when I last saw a KH750

Image
Oh look another GT380 with a Blackbird in the background

Image
Plenty of old 4 strokes there to look at.When I finally get around to rebuilding my XT600 I'll take it up there.

Image
A few more cylinders..
Plenty of other old school bikes there, including a 911 FZ750 a 350 single cylinder Guzzi,a dozen or so Brit bikes, there was also a Buell.
Lets see what turns up at this weeks meet

I always thought the 350 Kwak was somehow the nicest looking of the lot.

Some lovely old bikes there. That's my era for sure.

Point of order,it's not a KH350 it's a 350 S2. :P

I wasn't sure what prefix reffered to the 350 triple, that;s why I just said 350 Kwack. Good to see that someone on here knows their triples

One of my mates has a Suzuki GT250A,& the rest of us would love to have a 350LC,RD250 or RD400 as a reminder of our formative days but they've been going for daft money for the last decade :wtf:
I'll just have to get my old XT600 rebuilt...

I've a 350 YPVS, an FZ750 and an 1170 1982 Kawasaki, my 2020 GSXS 750 is better to ride than any of them.

Also the 750 Kawasaki is an H2, there was never a KH750

Towards the end of it's run before Kawasaki went 4 stroke there was a KH 750. All the remaining triples were KHs then.

The GT380 looked and sounded great. But was rubbish next to the RD400.

I had mine in 1984, it cost £60, with a non running spares bike, it was slow and used to hole pistons, I was 17 and stupid and didn't know how to set float heights, which was what was wrong with it, sold it a year later for £50, and sold a load of parts off the spares bike for £50, still find odd GT185 bits in the bottom of tool boxes.

IIRC I paid £300 and was nearly new.

I had one of the first gt 250s . Ram air, front disc brake. This is 1973, bought from cable motors in Halifax. Might ring some bells with Yorick . By along country mile, the best gt Suzuki was the the 550 gt. smoother than a Gurkhas foreskin and looked like it was doing 70 when it was stood still.

The gt 250 cost me £399 . The top box for my triumph trophy cost £400😳
