READY, SET, SCRAM: WORLD’S FIRST SCRAM 411 CUSTOM!
https://www.bikebound.com/2022/05/23/scram-411/
Royal Enfield has recently launched the Scram 411, a more street-oriented version of the widely-lauded Himalayan adventure bike, featuring a 19-inch front wheel and modern scrambler styling.
“With our world increasingly becoming more fast-paced, life in the urban context has become about the weekday hustle and the weekend getaway, and everything in between. We wanted to build a motorcycle that could effortlessly navigate this entire gamut, and be the perfect ally for the young, modern-day rider.” –Royal Enfield, via Rider

The styling is very early 1980s, especially the seat.

Wonder what those little saddle tank add-ons do?
Bit of a wasted effort making that plate hanger decorative. Once the plate is on it'll never be seen again and the cut-out will just fill with crud.
It's not a pretty thing though.

Probably nicer in the flesh. Styling is reminiscent of honda CX and MZ.

I like it.
Just needs a bit more go.
Rumours are there's a 450 version of the Himi out soon.

Looks like a Bellwood bike if he'd have been riding in 1985.

Glad to see the further rise of RE, but that's not for me. Something doesn't look quite right? Not saying its bad though, cosit isn't, just doesn't hit the spot for me. Biggest put off for me with these, is the engine noise. Bloke at work has one and it sounds like a diesel?! That said they seem to clatter on regardless.

I'm having a go on a Himalayan and one of these tomorrow. I'm not expecting too much but I kind of hope I like them.
I'll let you know how I get on.

A decent pipe drowns it out, the main problem is the shocking build quality, my one disintegrated like a Chinese 125. And the electrics leave a lot to be desired.Taipan wrote: ↑Fri May 27, 2022 10:24 am Glad to see the further rise of RE, but that's not for me. Something doesn't look quite right? Had my test rides at Jones and alcock in Stafford this morning.
Quite liked the bikes overall . Suspension was nice and smooth and plush , nice riding position, good handling over the b roads they used for the test route.
The gear change was perfect as was the on/off throttle fueling. These were both far better than on the mt09, street triple and KTM 690 which were my previous 3 bikes over the last 10 years or so.
Would I buy one? Yes , if I wanted it for city centre commuting or if I lived in the middle of a network of green lanes / country lanes.
However for me though the 25 or so horsepower and 60 mph cruising speed wouldn't be enough and I think it would soon frustrate me and I'd feel a bit vulnerable on my route to work that can feel like a racetrack at 5.30 in the morning!
If they had 50hp I'd have already bought one .
Might try a cb500x next, or a KTM 390 adventure? Also looking at 690 s and mt07 s again, but I'd really like something I could take off road.

Re: READY, SET, SCRAM: WORLD’S FIRST SCRAM 411 CUSTOM!
The CB500 is ace! I have the F version, and I haven't tried the X, but most of the differences are minor. It will trickle along narrow lanes, and still cruise at a true 70mph all day, it can hustle along at 90+ if pushed. Overall mpg is 80 mpg, so the range is really surprising. Later this year I shall see if it is up to long distance touring with luggage, I don't expect any problems. The only downsides I have found in switching from an 800VFR is the lack of weather protection, the need to change down rather than just roll on for overtakes, and the inability to piss off into the distance at Warp Factor 7 when the mood takes me.

Looks fairly practical so regains most of the points that it lost through looking like a 1992 Wulfsport catalogue escapee.
Err... Dunno really, could be good and its got the usual stuff you expect a motorcycle to have so thats a bonus over some of the hipster ta with no airfilters, mudguards, sidepanels and so on.

Don't see why not? I toured down to Italy and N Spain on a GS500 (as well as going all over England delivering parcels on it).
That IS an issue, and why I bought an XJ6. The fairing does a pretty good job. The X model keeps a surprising amount of wind off but at the expense of a bit of buffeting. The only downsides I have found in switching from an 800VFR is the lack of weather protection
Personally I think that no bad thing if it makes people reconsider an overtake rather than just rely on brute force (and ignorance) to make the pass.the need to change down rather than just roll on for overtakes
So it's licence friendlier too, and the inability to piss off into the distance at Warp Factor 7 when the mood takes me.
