Best place to sell a nice road cycle

Post by formula400 »

Went to Bicycle Richmond and had a bike fit, absolutely gutted I didn’t get it done before I bought my Dolan Ares.

Anyway I didn’t do it, and it needs to go, basically it’s too long and and about 6cm to low at the front. Even if I was to spend a grand or 2 on bits it would never fit me nicely.

So I’ve decided to sell it and build a bike that will fit. He worked out that a Trek domane will be the best fit. So once the bikes sold I’ll buy the trek frame and some wheels. I’ve just ordered a Ultrgra group set with 165mm cranks (Dolan has 170mm)

So I’ve got it up on eBay and Facebook but am I missing anything, I am not that clued up when it comes to selling a nice bike.

How does the bike feel? I'm not sure I'd make an expensive change based on the word of one fitting centre whose goal is to sell you a new bike

They only sell made to order bikes, , but they come in at around 10k, so there goal is not to sell bikes, it’s bike fitting,

It feels proper low, it’s not nice when on the drops, can’t see forward properly,

They put my bikes position on there jig and video you peddling for 5 mins, , then make make changes and keep going until I was completely comfortable, to get my bike to fit me would make it look strange as it would need riser bars and other bits.

He just advised me on what geometry to go for, and the trek is best suited. It was amazing what a new saddle, bringing the bars closer and higher did.

Size? Spec? Price?

I suspect (given crank length etc.) it's way too small for me but you never know who else is looking on here!

Another one here whose experience of bike fits is excellent. Made an enormous difference to my comfort* and, therefore, my enjoyment of my road riding. *Interestingly, my experience mirrors yours in that it was that "everyone buys too big" and I ended up with a smaller frame, longer post, lower front with a shorter stem. Works a treat.
