Getting another free crossing at Dartford! The heavy traffic stops the ANPR picking up your reg plate, so its only fair you don't pay when traffic is heavy.

After 2003 the crossing will be free.

Oh sorry, that's yet another politician's promise that vanished into the ether. Did anybody believe it?

Talking of crossings, council leaders are talking about a Devon - Swansea ferry. This would make me happy as my brother is on the north Devon/Cornwall boarder and it would be great to visit him and go home via a bit of Wales.

Soapy £10 says it never happens. It's not like there's oodles of money kicking around with not much to spend it on !

An expensive waste of money nobody really wants, sounds perfect for a leveling up grant.

Finding a decent fencing firm that actually turned up to quote for moving my driveway gates back and fit some new panels! They come well recommended and I soon found out why, as they gave us some good advice and price options for different ways to do the job. TBH they were getting the job before I even got the very reasonable quote! Top result as now I'll be able to keep the camper at home, along with both our cars on the side driveway!

Several things on the  list today. :D

Nice journey in to the hospital, easy parking, got in to see the consultant 10 mins early and got 40 mins! (Some of it tussling with the complexity of the new computer system that went live on Monday :( ).

Good news...ain't got nuffink nasty growing on my spine. Yay!
Bad news...I remain a mystery to the medical profession.

But wow! Modern imaging technology is just  just had a detailed MRI tour along my spine. It's incredible how far it's all come.

Next I'm going to be kitted out with electrodes to monitor the nerve activity.

Me next month.... :D

I would call that a 'significant thing that makes you happy'. 8-)

Phew! Distraught (very) wife appears from the garden. 'I've disturbed a bird's nest'. :(

Had picked up an upturned terracotta plant pot and out spilled nest and umpteen chicks.

Out I go and pat everything back into a basic nest shape, shovel about a dozen tiny, featherless, flapping chicks back in and slap pot back on top.

Been watching from a distance and parents (bluetits) are still too-ing and fro-ing every few minutes with beaks full of scran and disappearing through the hole in the bottom (ie top) of the plant pot. So they haven't abandoned the nest. Needs a bit of housework mind, my nest building skills are a bit rusty. :D

Overall, that's a

I think it's more likely that when they start cheeping for food, foxy will shove the pot over and nom nom nom the lot, so once things have settled I'll stick a few bricks round it. They're going to need to be quite agile to get up and out of the hole. (It's also going to get crowded in there if they all survive, smelly if they don't!) but I guess the parents know what they're doing.

Had a robin's nest in a pile of plant pots last year but I think the magpie got the chicks :( As is the general karma of things though, the fox got one of the magpie fledglings that ventured out a bit too early and couldn't get back up to the nest. I plonked it as high as I could in a hawthorn tree but next day...just a few feathers on the ground. Nature's quite tough sometimes!

My trusty battery charger stopped, so went to buy another, with old one in my hand to get same one.

Went to counter to pay and he asked about the duff one. Then happily knocked off €10.

€32 is cool 😎

My car passed it's MOT. I was worried as I have a cut in the (ineffective) rim protector bit on the side of a nearly new tyre but he said it wasn't structural so not a fail.
Not so happy I have a flat spot on a wheel, not enough to fail but the third damaged wheel I've had with this car.

I've struggled with pool algae for a couple of years. The pool dip sticks with charts always looked OK, but the bastard kept coming back. Costing me time and money with anti algae and backwashing once a week. I just thought it was coz of the sun and heat.
But went to a big local pool place a couple of weeks ago to buy one of them auto pool cleaners. While there we asked about the algae and he spent 10 mins talking about it. When we went to buy the chemicals he said to bring in a sample of water and he'd do a full analysis.

Well, it was a proper full analysis which shows I'd got it wrong :) From my school chemistry lessons, I wrongly understood Ph and alkalinity. Thought they were same thing. He showed us what to buy and the exact amount to add to get the right balance.

Last 10 days the pool has been beautiful with no hint of algae. Very happy boy. Just been in and it's a very pleasant 29c :)

Gonna be buying that lad a few beers :)

The physio worked on my shoulder this morning. I lay on a table, he pulled my arm up to 90 degrees and then lent it a bit backwards so it 'went over my head' - he got it to 120 degrees :bblonde: :bblonde: :bblonde:

Much better than when I arrived here (even the physio was grinning!). Not as good as the physio in resort could do before the use of crutches, but damn that felt good!

Also the external rotation has improved - more that it no longer causes pain, but it does go a little further (a few degrees, not 10's of degrees!!) :bblonde: :bblonde:

Proper happy

Now to do leg/knee stuff this afternoon (I expect!) :D
Life is for living. Buy the shoes. Eat the cake. Ride the bikes. Just, ride the bikes!! :bblonde:
