TripleRS update and what brake discs?
My bike needs new front dics, any recommendations other than Brembo and why?
I took my bike for a service to a new independent dealer/mechanics at the bottom of my road and I'm impressed with their thoroughness. They sent me the following vids and pics.
Front sprocket was loose - the work carried out by another, local independent garage which I won't be going to again (sprocket replaced). The electrics and cable tie, that's me.

Carbon build up the back of the inlet valves. He thought that may be E10 fuel - does anyone have any ideas?

One trumpet has cracked in three places - cheap plastic to blame for that? Not being replaced yet.
Air box clip fitted incorrectly (work carried out by Triumph).
It's waiting for parts. I'm getting a new back tyre for my Welsh trip in a couple of weeks and then it will be back with them for the discs.

Whatever you decide,don't buy EBC.
I've used PFM. Good discs, but they rust in rain.
Galfer were ok.
Currently Brembo discs and calipers on the Z. Best brakes I've ever had.

Double check whether you need to inform the insurance company. Some have a policy of restricting 'modifications'.

Used OEM if you're skint/tight, or known respected aftermarket brand like brembo.
Not worth going cheaper on brakes. Safety concerns aside, if they warp after ten miles, where's your warranty?

Braking is a waste of petrol
I'll get the Brembos.
Anyone know why I would have carbon build up on the top of the inlet valves?

Inlet is purely air and fuel.
Exhaust fumes should only exit via exhaust valve, obviously.
Somehow the inlet valve is leaking.

Re: TripleRS update and what brake discs?
Could also be leaking valve seals. All valve seals leak really, it's just a question of how much. In that case the carbon would be burnt oil.

Re: TripleRS update and what brake discs?
The inlet valve gets hot, it's just some fuel or oil that's burnt on top of the valve, don't worry about it, no valve seals 100%

Re: TripleRS update and what brake discs?
Last set of discs i replaced i used Brembo as they seem to work really well in comparison to EBC discs i have used in the past. What mileage have the current discs got ?
With all the shit you have had with this Triumph why not offload it and try something more reliable/Japanese

Re: TripleRS update and what brake discs?
I raced for 8 years.
Later 15 instructing on GSXR1000s.
Bloody hard riding. Much harder than even race bikes.
Never had a disk problem.
Summat's up.

Re: TripleRS update and what brake discs?
Did the Gixers ever get to 30000 miles ?
Thats normally about the time from when i have to replace discs ...... Multi and ZX636 were 30-35000 miles, the GS Beemer was 45000 miles

Re: TripleRS update and what brake discs?
All my GSXRs did about 40 track days and road miles averaging 8 or 9 thousand miles
Edit. I thought is was 3k not 30k.

Re: TripleRS update and what brake discs?
Addendum.
No way a road rider will ever brake as hard as racer.
So 30,000 road miles is about as hard as 1,000 track miles.

Re: TripleRS update and what brake discs?
Its not about how hard you brake wearing the disc thinner which makes that above highlighted bit bollocks and speculation.
Add in corrosion, vibration through road surface conditions and numerous other factors. The discs on my first Multi were still thick enough to pass an MOT after 30000 miles but had tiny cracks starting to develop around the mounts caused by wear and tear over crap surfaces over thousands of miles including offroad
I asked Trinity what mileage she had on them as i know she racks up big road miles but didnt think she was around the 30K mark yet on that bike

Re: TripleRS update and what brake discs?
85k miles on my OE front discs on the Hornet and still well within tolerance.
One thing that kills discs is non-OE pad material. You might get a bit of extra stopping power out of non-OE pads but it's by creating extra wear on the discs. I stick to OE pads - good enough to lift the Hornet's rear wheel without too much effort.
