Getting a bit powdery in the forest so Rekon front is pushing my luck. Cut it short as my left knee had started to twinge, I hate getting old.

Riding from Slindon to Bury Hill/Bignor yesterday sudden BANG! Instant rear total deflation. Hole was too big to plug so walkies time. Surprised to see what had made the hole - still had a little sealant on it. New tyre time.

Knee still shonky and absolutely no grip on the wet grass and rock hard but slick chalk.

Yesterday I spent all day on the Specialized Status at Rogate with my lad. I wasn't sure if I'd need the bigger bounce so I just took his.

Had an ace day out! Lots of sweat and jumpy fun.

Had a nice 4 hours in peaks Saturday, a gentler off road ride but some proper climbs, 28 miles and 4000’.

Not really very fitness orientated but nights tend to do that to me but it was nice to get out.

Crashed and burned today - slight over confidence , front wheel slipped out of the track onto the grass, and I went down.
Body armour saved another broken shoulder - but buy fuck, it hurts at the minute ...

Quick ride yesterday up Centurion Way, Chalkpit Lane then down Monarch's Way, then back home along the Literary Trail. Only hit 25-26 mph down Monarch's Way before had to slow down for walkers and dogs. Was trying out new Bontrager SE6 front and SE5 rear (both 2.5"). As expected they don't roll as well as the previous Bontrager XR4's but loads more grip (and hopefully more puncture resistant). Pic is from top of Chalkpit Lane out towards the Solent. Isle of Wight, Chichester etc.

I think over confidence - and wetter that expected base layer. Came around a slight curve - frontie slipped off the base , then onto the damp vegetation - and I carried on going!
Riding like a knob - really.

The two people I had just overtaken were very nice - they helped. And at no stage uttered "dickhead" under their breath. Which must have been a temptation !

Did the same ride today with Mrs irie, what a beautiful day! Saw this on the Literary Trail, sheep shearing of all things!

MAn my legs are still not exactly my friends at the moment. Had yesterday off but today i took the Cadent in the car while dropping the car off to the mechanic in Reading... The cycle home was OK... but i wasn't exactly setting the world on fire i think. It does roll nicely though i must admit. 18 or so miles later, bit wet from the drizzle and a bit irritated from crappy overtakes, i can't say i was exactly in love with the road ride.

I’m right off road riding at the moment, sick of bolshy car drivers and dodgy over takes and getting squeezed and that’s just on the mile to the railway station

It wasn't my preference for a ride, but the car needed dropping off and wife is out of action with poorly. So it was cycling back. I could have gone a lot more off road but it has been raining all morning.

Did an organised ride along with @Crosshair

Ride was going ok until we did a horrible climb followed by some sending us on a 3 mile detour back to same climb! After that it kinda turned into a slog. I was getting held up on the descents and being rubbish on the climbs.

It then started raining. But I was 1/2 a mile from my house, so went home lol.

It makes you realise that doing events is as much about mates, banter, bollox as it is the riding. Doing it solo, meh, not for me thanks.
