Off the Belgium tomorrow: Staying just north east of there
Four days doing some of the Flanders Fields trenches, battle fields and cemeteries ( My grandfather fought at both the Somme and Paschendale - lucky man). Will head down to the Somme and the Lochnagar Crater and Thiepval ...
One Triumph 1200 Scrambler, one Triumph Bobber and a BMW armchair thing
Coming back Monday about 14.00 so will have a morning in Dunkirk
Anything else we should go and see?

There's the obvious Menin Gate which is pretty impressiveMr Moofo wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 11:07 am Four days doing some of the Flanders Fields trenches, battle fields and cemeteries ( My grandfather fought at both the Somme and Paschendale - lucky man). Go and have a look at Namur and Spa, but it's not close to where you're going

On the plan - I've already done Menin Gate and Tyne Cot - but Last Post and sundown will be a little special at the Menin Gate will be a little poignant.weeksy wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 11:09 amThere's the obvious Menin Gate which is pretty impressiveMr Moofo wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 11:07 am Four days doing some of the Flanders Fields trenches, battle fields and cemeteries ( My grandfather fought at both the Somme and Paschendale - lucky man). Also want to see some of the trench reconstructions. And yes, Spa is a little far !

Namur is a bit far but if anyone is in that neck of the woods, check out Dinant. (If you don't like bikes, don't go on a sunny weekend though, it's like Matlock on steroids). River, church, citadel and the Adolphe Sax museum. Pretty place.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 11:10 am Go and have a look at Namur and Spa, but it's not close to where you're going
Doubt is not a pleasant condition.
But certainty is an absurd one.

Albert, just down the road, has a fairly interesting WW1 museum in a tunnel under the town.
Maybe also 'La Couple' just south of St Omer too.
