FA cup final weekend, who's watching?

Post by weeksy »

And who's winning?

I don't need to tell you my pick of course, I'll have 3-1 Liverpool with Salah getting 1, Diaz getting 2

Still not sure where I'm watching it, we may end up at West Berkshire Brewery for lunch and if they put a screen up, we'd stay and cycle home a bit tipsy. If they don't, we'll likely watch at home. Well I will, @Welsh Muffin doesn't care about football.

I remember listening to Coventry winning, listening on the radio whilst scoring our 4th years cricket match.

I remember Gascoigne clattering Des Walker and yet still winning (91?)

Kevin Moran sent off at Everton (I think)

Not sure the fa Cup has the romance out used to have

Anyway hope the scouse win cos Klopp seems like a decent bloke 😎

When I was a lad...it was massive. Saturday 3pm ko. The build up started in the morning with the coaches leaving for Wembley and their journey there. We had our neighbour Joe round to watch it, then half time was a quick kickabout in the street then back in for second half.

Those were the days. 👍

Yup, flags in windows, street parties, dressing up in kits etc. It was huge.
I guess it helped that I could walk to Anfield in 3 minutes.
But it was properly epic.

It did use to be an event that everyone watched no matter the teams. In my (probable rose tinted spectacles) mind it was easier to be a neutral because there was more diverse finalists. Probably not the case at all!

So today I find myself not really interested but slyly hoping Liverpool make a cock of it. If it was one of the big half dozen against a relative minnow I could get more into it.

My SDad used to be into football and I'm sure I have in my head that we sat and watched Watford win the Milk Cup (70's or early 80's??) but I have no idea what the Milk Cup was!! LOL (He was happy cos he grew up near Watford!!)

I was massively put off football as a kid cos of the fighting in the stands (and off the stands before and after). Wasn't till 5 years ago that I actually when to a league match for the first time - it was amazing! Even though there was a little bit of me that was watching out for and a bit scared in case of fighting etc!! (Was surrounded by scary and emotional Frenchs!! LOL) I guess a good match to start with was Lyon v Roma :D :D
