Phone mount recomendations

Post by Jody »

Hi all

I'm wanting to mount my phone on my handlebars* for sat nav. Doesn't need to be waterproof as I'm a fair weather rider.

What have you guys and girls tried, what's good and what's not ?

TIA

I use one of these for trail riding. Strong, sturdy hasn't broken.

What phone?

If it's a top end handset with a floating focus style camera, you need to be extra careful about mounts, the vibration can damage the moving parts in the focus mechanism.

Quadlock seems to be the one most widely used but its not cheap.

Don't get the cheapie XLMoto 'basics' one... the nut stripped the thread off the clamp bolt first time I tried to use it.

I like Brodits, but they're designed for internal use in a car and need a little modification for external use on a bike.

I Have a Quadlok - but I don't dare use. It has already buggered on iPhone.
That said, they sent me a free vibration damper - and refunded the money for the mount.
Until I have an iPhone in warranty, I still won't use it!

I'm in the quadlock camp but won't use a bike mount, mostly because the one time you really really need a phone is when you chuck your bike up the street and I reckon my phone has more of a chance surviving in my pocket than on the handle bars.

My sat nav was found 20 yards down the road.

I got 2 of these, wireless charging is handy and seems to hold phone tight, any size. Doubled in price though.
