I've convinced SWMBO to let me buy a bike!

Post by KungFooBob »

I want a big(ish) bike with excellent pillion provision and a roomy riding position.

Today I've been to look at this...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144138247845

The wife didn't like the colour (neither did I), on close inspection it's fallen over at some point... both sides!

That bike (not model) is off the list, but it was worth a sit on with the wife, it fits the comfort requirement.

I've also ridden round a field helmetless on a mates new R1250GS and that matches the comfort requirements too, bit over budget for me tho'

Early 1200 LC's are in budget tho'

I might go see this tomorrow...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/195017904579

Also on the list is...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255496408000

Under budget and a private sale, not sure about the pillion comfort, need to have a sit on one.

I still like the Crosstourer, but it would have to be the later bike with the dark frame and two tone paint like this one...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255389398313

I thought about Super Ten's, but they seem very expensive for the age/miles, even compared to a GS.

The KTM's 1190/1290 are out because the wife wouldn't even entertain sitting on one after looking at the pillion seat, same with the Africa Twin.

Dewd! Sweet!

I still fancy a GS. And I'd go 1200 as the 1250s are not cheap. Apart from everything else BMWs seem to handle pillions better than any other brand. It's probably the queer suspension.

I'm not convinced by the Cross Tourer or 1200 Tenere. A KTM could be good though.

I vote GS!

ps. asking the woman if you can buy a bike? You iz weak, boi! :P

I liked my bro’s superten it was way better than the reviews said it would be. 1250GS felt wee and nesh after the 1150GS.

I’d get a vfr1200x or a superten

It's in Hereford, the only thing I know about Hereford is the colour of the boathouse.

I had a Tiger 800XC... hated it.

The triple didn't have the top end hit of an IL4 or the low down stomp of a big twin, blander than a bland thing.

No, but... I'm 6'3" and ADV bikes generally fit best, I have no interest in going off road.
