Hello,
Picked up a scooter for the eldest as he's turned 16 and needs introducing to the world of two wheels.
20 years old and only 1400 miles, one owner bought it when he was 50, now 70 and hasn't used it since 2015 so decided to sell. Bike is in very good condition with all the assembly paint and stickers in place. It's only been started occasionally in his garage so I've changed the 2t oil as it was very gloopy. But....
Starts off the kick every time and runs nicely, electric start just buzzes. Lights flicker but I'm guessing they run off the stator and the indicators are random af.
Put the battery on the optimate yesterday and still the same so got the volt meter out...
Ignition off 12.25v
Ignition on 11.9v
Ignition on and brake lever pulled 8.7v
As above and starter pushed 5v
New battery time? I'm guessing being left for years has gubbed it.

That battery is dead. It is an ex-battery.

Bought and fitted a motobatt battery and motobatt charger from tayna. Job jobbed.
Wheels dropped off for new tyres as I don't trust the Taiwanese 20 year old plastic that's on it. Brake fluid and trans oil change next then an Mot.
