Well,that's a blow.

The costs of running a factory team in Motogp must be horrendous, especially when the production based classes will move their products anyway, regardless of the prestige.

Maybe it's a plot by Ducati to win the championship. All they need to do now is get Yamaha to quit.

Kawasaki seem to have done well since quiting Moto GP.
Maybe Suzuki don't think the cost is worth the rewards? Anyone know why they returned to the Moto GP paddock the other year?

Maybe they proved they can win, along with having not seen sales figures increase, then thought "why are we bothering"

I'd guess a season of MotoGP is say £10m.

If your sales are not increasing then why would you spend it?

I'd guess at ALOT more than that.

Nearer £100m I reckon.

I'd have guessed somewhere in the tens/hundreds of millions too for a full factory team. I bet Honda spend/spent fucking shit loads, cause of course they would.

How much are bikes even part of Suzukis overall empire? I honestly don't know...Kawasaki (not MotoGP obvs) make like ships and jet engines and stuff don't they? Honda make anything with an engine. Ducati are Ducati in the way Ferrari are Ferrari.

Bugger. Always had a soft spot for Suzuki I think due to Sheene as a kid and then Schwantz. I was over the moon when they won the title. Sounds like it's a done deal though.

Too many bloody Ducati's on the grid and now we lose Suzuki

None of the manufacturers go prototype bike racing with any expectation of generating consequent sales.

Manufacturers go prototype bike racing for the cachet it allows them to gain for their whole company from partners/customers/suppliers etc. when they can bring them to the paddock and the factory.

And because manufacturers going prototype racing are generally like dogs chasing cars; they do it, they love doing it, but they don't really know why they are doing it...

No title sponsor so a self funding team, no satellite team so no revenue from selling bikes and parts to the B team and all the additional money that could generate.

Not the first time they have left racing and not to say they won’t be back but it’s set a fire among the rider market

Sad to see them go, but not surprised, their results have been a bit lack lustre so far this year, compare that with consecutive Le Mans 24 hour wins and where would you put your money?

It's probably the prettiest bike in Motogp too. Such thing matter to a shallow individual like me.
