Just had a look at REs website, the Himalayan is like a modern day MZ ISDT bike, just needs a tool bag on top of the tank.

The Himalayan might be good for the off road part but is really limited when you want to cover miles as it is running out of breath at motorway limit speeds . Mate has one he bought for touring one and it didnt stay long as the idea was there but practically its limited to shorter distances on rough terrain

Out of the big adventure bikes some are very good at long distance on roads, some more adept on trails than others, not many excel on both

I would say a Multistrada obviously but for your requirements it has too many cc unless you go for the 950, wheels are wrong size unless you go for the Enduro which is mahoosive. I have covered 800 miles in a day on mine touring, taken it off road up rock strewn loose gravel mountain tracks with luggage and done track day laps on it. Is it perfect at them all, not really, but its a superb all rounder that not much else can match

Sounds daft, but my Himalayan seemed to get smoother at 65+ after about 5 minutes. I just got the thought that it'd blow up if you did it too often!

790 / 890 KTM is best fit for your spec, not sure you'd get an Africa twin for your Budget. 800XC Triumph works too (I'll ignore you're ask for max 2 cyl )
