I had the 'pleasure' of visiting two hospitals yesterday. We only have to wear masks now in medical places, generally hospitals and medical centres (and public transport).
I attended a First Aid requalification course a few weeks ago. It was in a local football ground training room and as soon I walked in I clocked the masks on the socially-distanced tables. The trainer was at pains to point out that that they were still required as it was a medically-related location. Eh?
I took an executive decision to say I had an exemption. Nothing more was said, apart from the other half dozen people on the course (who were allowed to mix without masks in the communal room during lunch and breaks during breaks - go figure) who told me they wished they'd done the same.
It got a bit silly when we were told that we couldn't practice the position for abdominal thrusts due to Covid so had to stand with an imaginary person in front of us, presumably choking on imaginary food. That, and being told to socially distance, except when we were practicing bandages on each other, which was often...as I said - go figure.
Yup. Some of the implementing of rules is a bit nuts.
But, I'm happy that my physio feels that rehab/physio is not exactly medical (in the same sense as doctors etc). So I don't need to wear one in there. But he doesn't see 'that' many people in comparison to the doctor next door. I always have one in my pocket in case and interestingly, at different times, both physios wore masks for a week or so - due to a cold, not covid, but a cold. Thought that was interesting and kind of good
Life is for living. Buy the shoes. Eat the cake. Ride the bikes. Just, ride the bikes!!
I went to my first proper gig in ages last week, saw Muse at the Hammersmith Apollo.
They did say something about being Covid secure, but there was no difference to any pre 2020 gig. I half expected to catch something but a week later I'm A OK.
They've been on my wish list to see for about 20 years but it never quite panned out. They're about to start their new world tour, they snuck a couple of charity gigs on to the front of it for MSF and War Child, so I took a day off and went on my own. I'm far to old to be down in the pit, but I thought "bollox to it (and Covid)" and went for it
Deffo the best band I've seen live, they have the rare trick of sounding better than the CD in real life. I've only seen maybe two other bands (Foos and RHCP) who can do that.
It's wifey's birthday today, one of her friends phoned this morning to wish her a happy day. They've been friends for years, she's always been anti-vax but covid tipped her over the edge, just ranting about it on social media and getting rid of friends and followers who didn't agree with her if they hadn't already binned her. It's probably 18 months since her and wifey had a chat, today's was very brief. She makes a living doing massage and holistic treatments and had a decent amount of clients before covid. She told wifey that most of clients have gone elsewhere and she's now struggling to pay the bills. All very sad really.
To be representative of the whole body of Parliament it only needed one speaker, Roberta Metsola, the President of the European Parliament not half a dozen Members who haven't taken a back-hander from Pfizer.
