I’d love to ride where they filmed the Martian, also Monument Valley. More for the epic scenery than the trails.

Hawaii would be another one, the climb up to the Mauna Loa observatory is something like 11000ft (though I would stop short of the summit to respect the local traditions). That would be a lung buster.

If I was younger and fitter I’d try to the Yak Attack race in Nepal.

I'm too old and unfit to do anything even mildly gnarly, every time I try I end up either in hospital or in bed with aches and pains, so slowly through the woods is for me.

I don't need gnarly as such... but in the leafy West Berks countryside we're very much lacking in the fun stuff if you want sweepy tree lines and loamy woods... there's some of course, but we don't have a lot.

East Suffolk has east of the A12, sandy woods and farm land, can be very sandy and west of the A12 is clay soil which can be either rock hard or wet and very sticky, again mixture of farms and woodland. The Viking trail at Tunstall is a good example of the sandy bits, but does stink of horse piss in places.

Back to Canada. Some of the best trails I've ridden were in Revelstoke and Golden (Kicking Horse) in BC. But to be honest I'd say there's so much good riding out there that I'd struggle to pick one. I'd tour it agaim (especially as I haven't been back since 2012).
