Currently 14 bikes booked into white group. We have a whole pit garage to ourselves

Yeah 28 in fast, 31 inter, 20 novice.

As you'd expect on a circuit of this size it's like a ghost town

Haha, sorry, I don't have the same levels of spare time during the day as @weeksy has! Day went really well all things considering. It was certainly a tad on the chilly side but it stayed dry and warmed up by the middle of the day.

I went into the novice group as I had no idea how the hip was going to hold out. It was definitely the quietest group I've ever been in, 20 of us I believe which when you're doing the full GP circuit can get quite lonely! :shifty:

First session was all about finding my feet again on the bike, not been on it really since Pembrey last August, so takes a while to get back into the swing of things. Hip was happy enough so happy days. Session two felt much better and was significantly faster. Had a session with instruction by @andy@realroads. Thank you  Feedback was that I was very stiff in the arms and gave some good advise on lines. Next session went out and was thinking so much about relaxing the arms I think I over thought it all and wasn't comfortable on the bike and didn't enjoy as much. So um'd and ah'd about whether to do another session and decided I couldn't end of the previous one. This time didn't think as much about the arms and inadvertently must have relaxed them as felt smoother and not drifting as wide in the corners. Back to my happier place.

So for a day when the week before I could hardly walk properly up the stairs with the hip to getting in 5 full sessions I was over the moon. :banana-dance: :banana-dance: It was a great day as ever there, great instructors, well run, track more of less to my myself and a pretty good pit crew in @weeksy

Back there again on 12th May so let's see if I can remember what I learnt

I used to get punters to sit on the bike as normal. Then lift hands about an inch above the bars taking weight on waist and knees. . That's how you should ride. Unless braking.
Hands are to steer. Nothing else.

I find the problem with 'learning' on trackdays is the same as MTB coaching in the context that you're not only trying to learn/listen/practice, but you're also trying to get round without crashing... it makes it really tricky to actually take what you're being told and put it into practice, then once you add 'speed' into account that adds another level of complexity.

I'm the same. I've spent a few years learning enduro. But last week I realised I was using my arms too much.
So I gripped with my knees, then my arms stopped aching so much.
So now I have strength for when I need it on the tricky bits :)

You might need higher bars on your dirt bike, have you had anyone look at your riding position, from memory you're about 6ft tall so I wouldn't be surprised if the standard riding position is a bit low.
