I had free tickets to the Festival of Speed a few years ago (someone I knew had been given a load as they'd paid for him to bring a bike from California) but I didn't go because it was such a ball ache to get to.

I went to the FoS once about 15 years ago - I did really enjoy it, but I also remember it being spectacularly not easy to get to. I stayed at my parent's house all of 10 miles away too!

My old boss has driven his F1 car up the hill a few times, apparently it's much more pleasant if you're on the driver's side of the fences

Hmmm, I'm going to stick up for FoS at this point. I do it most years and don't have an issue getting to it at all*. But I will caveat that with.......

1. I tend to go early, have breakfast in Chichester with a load of mates and then get the bus to Goodwood.
2. On the occasions that I have taken the car I've gone early to avoid the MASSIVE queues for the car park.
3. The car park organisation - once you get in it (there's a few) - is superb and the walk to the event isn't the end of the world.
4. It's still an incredible event - rare to be able to talk to motorsport legends, current motorsport participants, the "higher ups" in the car and bike industries, designers, distributors, collectors etc (unless you're Dazzle of course!) and this offers that opportunity. Even more so in the rally stage at the top of the hill.

*I'm slightly further away than Dazzle's parents - about 25 miles - and if I wasn't going to the FoS I'd avoid Chichester and the A27 and the other trunk roads around it like the plague for the duration of the event!!

I've just remembered that my experience of getting in was tainted by the fact we got (literally) stuck in the car It was in my mate's classic Mini, we drove onto the rubber matting they put down in the car park and got beached on the edge where the mat was folded over 'double thick' Had to get out and push/lift the car off.

I've been a few times, but although I now live only about 5 miles away and could probably walk there, I'm not sure I can be arsed with it. (the FoS or the Revival). The only reason we went to the FoS last year was because my Dad's car was in the auction.

I used to go because I knew people running bikes or cars, I've got absolutely zero interest in looking at the dress-up charade or peering into the corporate tents where the champers flows freely. (although with typical britishness, give me a free ticket and I'll be there like a shot. )

Not been to the FOS but been to the revival. We stayed about 15 miles away the night before I recall but don't remember any issues getting in/parking but we were there early-ish. I definitely intend on going back to the revival at some point which I thought was a fantastic event.

I go every year for the full 4 days. It's the main thing that me and the now 23 yr old lad do together. Accommodation is booked, th at's a nightmare and this year we're slightly further away than normal (about 30 mins drive). but, we always get into the car park before 7 am each day and it's pretty much a straight run in, very little queuing. Leave it an hour and it can be very busy.

looking forward to seeing the old chaps on the bikes, I'm sure they'll make themselves available in the paddock for quick chats as well, the bike racers in the paddock are normally very friendly.
