Looks like eight jap bikes chosen at random. Half of them weren't even popular at the time of their release.

And Yamaha SR500 from 1978? Wouldn't the 77? XT have been more influential, or the XS650? Or Honda 450 Black Bomber, or ...

It's worth reading the link to see what the selection criteria are.

Few more than that..

The Honda Super Cub is the most-produced motorcycle in history. Cumulative worldwide production reached 87 million units in March 2014. It has been sold in more than 160 countries.

The American perspective of bikes has always been rather different to the UK.

Oh yeah? And why is anything that happens in America of any interest in the UK? :hmmm:

Shockingly, I did, to check what they had said about the 500.

"Yamaha SR500 (1978-1981) The Yamaha SR500’s mechanical simplicity and graceful styling is deeply appealing and has been since the beginning. It was plain and slim and reminded us of everything good about the traditional single-cylinder British bike, but with disc brakes and cast-aluminum wheels."

XT500 was 1975, albeit with drums and spokes - but it was an off-road bike.

The article mentions the 1986 Daytona 200 - maybe the image eas picked with that in mind.

I'd love to know what any of them influenced - none of them are exactly ground breaking motorcycles.

Z1.......influential
I nearly choked on my croissant!
Not a Honda fan boy, but my top 3 are:
C50/70/90
CB750
Fireblade
They all brought something to the party that no-one else had.

You, and the others.... Find better thread topics on bikes and post em :)

If you've not noticed, the forum is on the quiet side... so i'm trying to add content.

The 85 was better, in that colour scheme.
