Best ride is difficult, so many good ones, but maybe the first time I went to Europe on a bike. I had only been riding for a short while, and done less than 1000 miles after a 38 year gap. A number of Bonnie owners had agreed on the internet to meet up and do a European meet, and then (as usual) most of them cried off at the last moment. Anyway, I went through the Tunnel, sans the only other bloke from the UK due to come (who had missed the train), and stopped at the filling station at the Tunnel exit to wait for him. Sitting on my bike alone, in the sunshine in France, was a massive high for me.
He did turn up, we met up with several other people from Europe, some of whom I met again on other tours in other years, but that first hour or so, alone, in France, on my bike was almost like being 16 again.

Re: Just for one day
Oh, and apart from the trips across the Channel (inc. a trip via France, Belgium and Luxembourg to Germany to get some American panniers fitted by a Kiwi ) some of the 'Surrey Scrambles' were quite memorable as were the small group trips to places like Shoreham Airport for 'carbo-loading' at the Pilot's Club - which, last time I looked, appeared to have closed.
Spin's Lakes Tour and France trips were good company and fun too.
As Cousin Jack says though, that first stop at the petrol station after the Tunnel is always like taking a pair of tight shoes off (even though the coffee is ).
