If someone is getting away from you or you are struggling to keep up, or you just haven’t really woken up on the bike, just ride your own ride and don’t get sucked in to what other people might be doing. It’s too easy to think ‘I’ve got to keep up’, but on the road - scratching or touring - you’ll arrive at the same place but maybe 60 seconds after the bike in front.
