My pal was amazed our water is so cheap, even though it's desalination water.
What's it cost in UK ?

Dunno what it is per cubic metre but ours is £20/month (metered). (Inc sewage/waste water service).

Indeed, just a bit tricky given that I kitesurf on the sea which is 9+ miles from home. Also ride a mountain bike on the South Downs 6+ miles from home so doing that at home is equally tricky.
Put wheels on the board thingy. Its getting a big thing here now in East Lothian. Either that we are on some best spots location list But an area called Longniddry Bents at car park three is very popular with kite surfing.
Watched a video of kite surfing at Longniddry Bents, rolling swell and sideshore in a South Westerly.

I was chatting to two of my colleagues today about Ripple - which they both "do".

https://rippleenergy.com

Essentially you put a chunk of money (sorta 2k) into a cooperative fund which goes towards buying a wind farm. You get to 'keep' the electricity that your bit of the windfarm produces. You can also sell on anything you don't use, at a pre-agreed rate. If your chunk doesn't generate enough for your own demand you then just buy at the usual supplier rates.

I've only really glanced at it so I don't know all the ins and outs, but these two chaps seemed pretty happy.

Got me looking on the council web site last night and that is wrong. that 370 odd quid is water and sewerage. My water is only 172 quid so say the council web site.

Just checked last year's bill - £148 split 50/50 water/waste so £74 for water. That's one meter I don't mind having.

Most of it was during the spring/summer 6 months even though we use rain water for most of the garden. It'll be higher this year 'cos the landscapers seem to use lots and there's umpteen cu metre gone into the remade pond.

Now the shit's really going to hit energy prices.
DT wrote: The Russian leader said he had signed a decree saying customers must pay in the local currency from tomorrow or their contracts will be terminated. The G7 has previously rejected the demand.

In televised comments, Putin said buyers of Russian gas should open accounts in Russian banks, adding that the move was an important step in strengthening the country’s ailing economy.
Opening accounts in Russian banks to pay in roubles would break sanctions.

Edit: but there do appear to be "wheezes" to get around this.

Not quite what it appears. It looks like they can pay in euros into Gazprom's bank (which is unsanctioned). The bank will do the conversion.

Yes, just seen that hence my edit - Gazprom Bank has been sanctioned by the US and UK but not by the EU.

And, presumably (and if true that it's Putin's decision) means that he acknowledges the harm to the Russian economy caused by the sanctions.

That and the German Chancellor talked to him yesterday and probably had to explain that the edict meant they couldn't buy any gas. So, no euros and no rubles. Also, if Germans have no gas they could go one of two ways - get cross and tell the government to get stuck in or get cold and tell the government to cave in. Tricky one.

They could just open an Eastern Front.

They have form . . .
