It's getting more and more difficult to buy things (not just bikes) without it.

Even the little Audi I had as a courtesy car recently (cheapskates - last time it was a big Audi ) had some lane control malarkey that seemed to stiffen the steering if I looked like crossing the white line. I gather some don't do it if you're indicating. The section in the manual on the MMI was about twice the size of any other. Laptops on wheels, but probably less flaky than most laptops.
Doubt is not a pleasant condition.
But certainty is an absurd one.

You obviously bought the wrong marque, I got a hybrid S class (next time I got a Smart car though, once they knew I was selling it ).
I took an XC90 out for a test drive - all the bells and whistles options ticked. The route involved a quite narrow road with solid white lines on both kerb sides and a reasonably new centre line. Within 10 minutes max the lane-keeping assist had to be switched off as it was seriously upsetting the driving, the collision warning system was activated by a vehicle coming the other way round a tight left bend and the adaptive cruise control missed a speed limit change
