Re: S1000RR Sport 2022
Seeing as though the collection day is creeping up I thought I better make a few purchases. The radiator and oil cooler guards are a must, I want them ready to go on immediately. I was planning on purchasing the Evotech set up but I’ve been recommend the RRG (radiator racing guards) and at a fraction of the cost you’d maybe think they were inferior but everyone swears by them, so going to give them a go.
An absolute must is a tail tidy, I hate the standard monstrosity that you get with new bikes these days. So the Evotech will be going on, I’ve used these before and love them, a very well made bit of kit. It will clean up the rear end.

Re: S1000RR Sport 2022
Popped into BMW yesterday to drop off the retention certificate for my plate which will go straight on the bike when it’s registered. The original estimated handover date was the 12th (I had put it back to the 19th) but it hasn’t even arrived yet, it’s being shipped so should be here at some point this week coming.
Not long now.

Re: S1000RR Sport 2022
Estimated handover date was meant to be the 12th, but I was going to leave it until the 19th (tomorrow) anyway because that’s when the insurance runs out on the GSXR and it’s still not here.

Re: S1000RR Sport 2022
Bike is in Glasgow, insurance is all sorted, registered with my plate on. I was on my way through yesterday to do the final paperwork when I got a call to leave it as there’s been a fuck up, on their end, well not even them as in the dealers but BMW themselves.
When I specced the bike the base price for the sport didn’t include the SOS button, that was an extra if wanted, not sure what the cost of it was but I wasn’t interested in it anyway.
Fast forward to about a week or so ago, I was showing my mate the configurator online as he’s interested in one and i noticed the base price for the sport was slightly higher. On closer inspection i noticed that the SOS button option was ticked but in such a way that it can’t be removed, ans that’s clearly what’s bumped the price up.
So yesterday the phone call was to tell me that my bike and 5 others that were specced before this change by BMW have arrived with the SOS button installed and it’s causing problems because the figures don’t match when they’re trying to finalise things. They’re going to sort it one way or another and we’ll only need to pay the original price, how they do it I don’t know but they’ll have to honour it. Bit of a fuck up.

Re: S1000RR Sport 2022
A couple of years ago when a mate was buying his HP thingy,BMW pissed him around for months on delivery date. He was meant to get the bike in March and it was late June before they sorted things. The dealer gave him a voucher for 500 quid as a sweetener. He had one of his trick carbon wheels crack too, that was a bit All replaced under warranty,as you'd expect.wull wrote: ↑Sun Mar 27, 2022 9:14 pm Bike is in Glasgow, insurance is all sorted, registered with my plate on. Exactly why I love this colour scheme. When I’m having fun nobody will know what bike it is, all black bikes look the same.

Re: S1000RR Sport 2022
The German dog approves of the German bike.
Few other bits ordered, paddock stand bobbins and brake & clutch lever protectors which incorporate the heavier bar ends which are needed for the S1000rr, they’ve all been like that ever since the Gen 1 back in 2009.
I went out for a short 10 miles or so, delivery mileage was 7 miles, run in period will be 600 miles then the madness can begin.
Bits to fit
Paddock stand bobbins
Tail tidy
Radiator and oil cooler guard
Lever protectors
A few other bits and bobs to get in due course, a taller screen sooner rather than later.

Hubba hubba!
They are one of my favourite looking bikes and I wish I'd had one when I could fold myself to fit.

Nice bike.
