Yamaha recall 📢

Post by Dodgy69 »

Got home today to find a large envelope from Yamaha, never good news. " Due to an improper ecu program, your machine may be affected by stalling or limited throttle response, under certain conditions ".

Doesn't say what those conditions are. Mines been OK but it will need to go in. More hassle. πŸ‘Ž

I idly wonder how this impacts on those who have had their ECU flashed?

It might overwrite it, so I'd not chance it if I'd had a remap as that would have cured any stalling issues anyway.

Hassle, really ? It's not a massive thing is it ? You go, look at shiny bikes, have a coffee and a morning out riding your bike.... I'd have thought apart from waiting round while they do it, it's quite a nice day out.

Minor hassle then... I imagine it'll be a quick fix. 🀞 I'll ring dealer later.

I imagine most dealerships would be sympathetic if you took the bike in and said 'I had those problems so I had the ECU replaced and it's fine, update the bike history and do not reflash it, I'm happy with it'. Problem is if they say it impacts any warranty (which the reflash probably did anyway).

Recall done and letter stamped. Not had the stalling issue but have had eml come on 3 times but bike runs fine and light goes off by itself. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Few pics from shop. 700/900 Tracers in red. In the flesh look nice imo but 12k for the gt, 2k less for standard is too much and the clock's are dodgy. Xsr700 mt09 and one for when 2xtwins down sizes. πŸ‘

Oh, tracer 900 in other colour.

Whilst there, looked and indicator wiring route on the new mt09, as mine were exposed a bit under back end when putting back to stock. Now all tidy and no wires showing. πŸ‘

This bike is on borrowed time, come Easter Sunday a decision will be made. 🀬

Started cold this morning and its revving it's head off. Turn off and on again and revs back to normal. EML now on and tc and engine mode not working. Had the light on before and goes out usually after 3 or 4 runs, then modes work again.

It's going in to dealer after Easter. I mentioned the eml light to them yesterday whilst having recall work and was told the remap should sort.

I'm at Anglesey with it next weekend and hoping it's ok their. It'll be dealer after that and then, if problems persist, time to change. Had it 6 months. πŸ‘Ž

Beer time. 🍻

Bum, that's depressing. There was no hint of that problem with the 2019 model I rode round NZ whilst on the Shiny Side Up tour out there. I wonder what they've done to it?

Ye, my 18 tracer was brilliant, no problems at all. 2021 brought about the new euro 5 revised version of the CP3 motor. Work in progress.
