I've crashed at 80 mph in armoured jeans (Shoshoni): fell off my Ducati onto my knee and slid on my back for 100yards. Result: Grazed my knee.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 12:42 pm I'd be more worried about light colours getting covered jn dead bugs and road shite
I wear the Levis of Power too. I'm just thinking maybe I should not do that, but I don't want to spend 200 notes on something which isn't actually any better than said Levis.
Had a head on at 15 mph with another bike wearing Levis, my knee caught his fork leg: Result: Lower leg half-ripped off. Anything without armour, you may as well be naked.
I won't go on a bike without armour now.
Currently have a pair of the Halvassen (Lindstrands) Macan jeans, they feel ok, but they're cut VERY strangely and have tiny pockets. IIRC I bought them from Sportsbikeshop and for some reason didn't try them properly until after the returns window closed. If I'd tried them on in the shop I wouldn't have bought them. They're very tight across the front and have an extra bit of material around the back, above the waistline. The way they've been cut is possibly why they haven't sold so well, which is daft because otherwise they would appear to be ok - they're comfy on the bike though.
Also have a pair of old Hoods which are far too hot to wear in summer, but seem like they'd be pretty protective (there's a pair of kevlar shorts sewn into them).
In summer I mostly wear a pair of BMW Summer trousers, which have zip off lower legs - excellent for shorter rides and then more comfortable walking around. Mine are ancient though and don't fit as well as they should.
All of them have Hein Gericke HiProtec armour in - the floppy (but thick) black neoprene type. MUCH more comfortable than any 'solid' armour and very good for absorbing impacts (yes, I've crash tested it).
