Took a funeral today. Found out I am taking a baby funeral on Thursday as the vicar has Covid, so I have to step in and take the funeral. That will be hard....

Not an easy job

It is a hard thing to do in this vocation. A funeral for a 100 year old man last week, 88 year old today, 21week old baby Thursday, 55 year old man next week Wednesday and a funeral visit next week Thursday. In all these visits and services I take, I meet with families at their lowest points and walk in dark places of grief with them, to bring comfort, a listening ear, a gentle word and kindness.

Bit of gossip from the hairdresser.

I've just had my hair cut for the first time this year. I used to go to a place near where I worked, however, after a hard 2021 my hairdresser has sold his shop and become mobile - which is handy as I'm WFH for the foreseeable. He took his CBT last week with Matt King, the comedian/actor who played Super Hans in the Peep Show. Matt is going to complete his test by October when he will fly out to Australia to meet his brother for the first time who runs a motorbike shop. He is then going to travel around Oz making a TV documentary. My son did some work for Matt and said he's a right knob

Went to Paddock Wood with M and her Mum to see her Dad at the funeral director's CoR.

On the way back stopped in East Peckham for a glass of wine and had a chat with a Turkish guy who has a kebab shop there, in Turkish. He was rather surprised and very complimentary about my Turkish which just goes to show how friendly Turks can be.

They can be v honest too...like the chap in Silifke that put his head in his hands and said 'Ah. You are murdering my language'.

Today, went to visit the SiL and deliver her b'day present.

Went out for coffee and chat. Posted a letter and then came home

Took some bone broth out of the pressure cooker to cool

Nurse came and did the barbaric injection

Had a marmite sarnie

Got the bus to the next village to pick up a pilates ball (uninflated so went in a rucksack! ) and brought it back. Blew it up and it does fit in the space I have and is the right size for the physio exercises

Sorted bone broth and bones and other stuff from the broth into the fridge. Tomorrow I'll use the veg and the inside of the bones with some broth to make a soup - got some sweet potato lumps in the freezer, so that will probably be the soup of the week!

Had cauli cheese from the freezer for tea, watched bake off

As an example, 'Pacific Ocean' has 3 Cs all of which are pronounced differently. In Turkish, the letter C is always pronounced like the J in June or July. Hit and sir both have an i in the middle but are pronounced differently. Turkish has i and ı to cover both pronunciations.

True. Thinking back it was probably grammar rather than pronunciation. (It was the 80s so I may be a bit hazy - still have a photo of the chap and his wife in the album though).
As you say, the pronunciation is consistent because the language was a very rapid creation - once Atatürk decided that they must westernise the language he didn't give the academics very long to do it so it's quite rigorously structured. Sadly I can't remember much of it. I do remember lots of little experiences though - like the security guard at Atatürk's summer house in Trabzon removing the red security rope to letting the missus - my 'bayan' - use Atatürk's personal tuvalet.

We planted 3 trees in remembrance of 3 family members recently departed. We got permission from the local golf club for a spot high on the course. A good afternoon of craic and job done.

The thought did occur to me. We were using spray weedkiller around the site too and the evil in me suggested drawing a knob on the nearest green would be a great idea.

Took a funeral for a baby this morning. Lunch with a parishioner which was excellent to just relax and get out. Then a hearing test that showed how deaf I really am (I only heard 8 boops) and the hearing aid they had was useless, so back to the drawing board. Sign language next at this rate! Evening meeting now.

Busy day at work - rendering repairs made a timber frame greenhouse and a couple of plumbing issues. But more importantly Missus's birthday and wedding anniversary this weekend so I played a blinder and surprised her with short trip to Ireland. Overnight Pembroke ferry later on tonight then down to Cork for a few days and back to Waterford.

Have extended it due to the weather forecast - well,it would be rude not too..

Car's rammed with Diesel - wonder how much a pint is ?
