Where did my posts go ? Post deltions from Admins, update thread
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=792
Some of you will have noticed that posts were removed this morning from the Pillock thread.
These were removed by me after reports from other members. Reason, well, the pillock thread was supposed to be light hearted fun and banter, not a political rant. Keep the politics out of the nice threads please guys. I understand there may be some cross-over in topics and discussions, but if people want to do the politics thing, there's a section for it..
Any questions, discussions or issues with the above, i'm more than happy to do in both public an private.

Re: Where did my posts go ? Post deltions from Admins, update thread
I said it from the start and i'll say it again.... This place isn't TRC... For better or worse, i don't know yet.... But it's 'different' what was acceptable there, isn't necessarily going to fly here.
But lets remember everyone, this isn't just down to me, i wouldn't have spotted it without it being reported. I don't read every post in every thread... So, if there's something you don't think is right, let the Mods know via reporting it. I/we may not agree and may not do what you want... but at least we're aware.
Keep enjoying the forum all.

I've never known people to get worked up about a merged thread before, i thought it made perfect sense, but i've now had 2 people complaining about 'ownership'MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 12:08 am I'm more erked at the handling of the 'purchases' thread, but shit happens
If i'd known it was going to upset people i'd never have merged the 2... but they were essentially exactly the same thread ?

Well, for balance, there were a couple of times when I wondered about whether I had read stuff or not.weeksy wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 6:40 amI've never known people to get worked up about a merged thread before, i thought it made perfect sense, but i've now had 2 people complaining about 'ownership'MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 12:08 am I'm more erked at the handling of the 'purchases' thread, but shit happens

IMHO one of the big things that caused the decline and fall of TRC was allowing pile-ons and personal attacks. I'm all in favour of stopping those but be a bit careful of deleting anything that sounds like an opinion. A bland fluffy forum is equally unappealing.

Do you think it was wrong? It wasn't the fact that it was an opinion but the fact it went into a political mini rant totally unrelated to the topic.Tomcat wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 11:03 am IMHO one of the big things that caused the decline and fall of TRC was allowing pile-ons and personal attacks. I'm all for opinions, I'm not going to enforce people to have them or not, but I'm not going to have innocent topics descend into Brexit/covid/ etc bashing threads for no reason, especially when in completely different sections
Re: Where did my posts go ? Post deltions from Admins, update thread
Can't say I remember the post in detail though I'm surprised if you think it went OT, I try to avoid that. I'm fine with a bit of politics, after all it dictates how we live our lives and what sort of a country this is, what I'm not fine with is the herd who think it's clever to play the man not the ball. And if this place just turns into another TRC there's not a lot of point staying here either. Cue "don't let the door hit you on the way out" and other devastatingly witty responses.weeksy wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 4:03 pmDo you think it was wrong? Isn't that exactly what I'm trying to avoid by removing that exact type of post in the wrong section?Tomcat wrote: ↑Sun Aug 09, 2020 4:16 pmCan't say I remember the post in detail though I'm surprised if you think it went OT, I try to avoid that. So the topic was about doing stupid things, then this was posted.
The posts before were none political, they were not even directly related to it. But still that post came on and was reported. The next 4 posts were in direct relation to that post, none of them were even slightly related to being a pillock.Over here the rules are confused to say the least, whether that's incompetence or deliberate policy is the question.
The French got it spot on, masks to be worn in all enclosed public spaces. Simple and no need to drive for an eye test
Can you not see why
1. It was reported
2. It was removed
?
Re: Where did my posts go ? Post deltions from Admins, update thread
I don't agree, mask rules are a political issue, whether or not somebody tacks a frightfully funny story on to it. Calling that response a "mini rant" is a bit lame, sorry mate. I even worked in a frightfully funny sign-off.weeksy wrote: ↑Sun Aug 09, 2020 4:19 pm

But look, we're not going to agree on this and I have better things to do, it's obvious how this place is going to be. Laters.

Re: Where did my posts go ? Post deltions from Admins, update thread
I must be missing something here. If you or anyone wants to discuss this in more depth either on thread or in private then I'm more than happy to do so
This place is NOT TRC, I want that to be clear, this is a motorbike forum with a few other bits added.
Over on TRC as we had was bitch fest's, rantings, arguments and an Admin who gave up caring. This place isn't having any of that, I care, I care about building a welcoming forum where people are not attacked from post 1, where politics are not the main subject and where every thread doesn't descend into Ming Ming ping pong. That's what YOU ALL wanted, that's what I'm trying to create and quite honestly I'm astounded you can't see it.
That's how this place is going. I'll either thrive or die by that, but either way, I'll remain true to it.
