Ya can't beat the grunt of a litre monster.
A litre bike can do everything a 600 can do.
A 600 can't do everything a litre bike can do.
A litre bike can do everything a 600 can do.
A 600 can't do everything a litre bike can do.

Been a long time since I've had a big bike. And this one certainly has big boy pants on. And I'm only revving to 6

Re: GSXS 1000 - Mofo's Gixxus
Forgot to say yesterday. The bike was showing low fuel when it was delivered but I decided to take the bike to Hatfield Tesco which is about 9 miles from me so the bike got a little run before filling. I put the fuel range remaining on and it was showing ---- so guessed it was working out pending how I was riding/how much fuel was left. Got about 2 miles from Hatfield when it flashed up 4 miles remaining! Good job I didn't go further. By the time I filled up it was showing 2 miles range and it took 15.9 litres in what I think is a 17 litre tank so I cut that fine.
I put the fuel range remaining back on when I left and was a bit disappointed it only said 135 miles. I then rode 30 miles to Buntingford and when I left there it said 140 miles left. So wondering if it's still calculating?

It can't calculate in advance it can only estimate. How can it know if you're riding round in 2nd gear at 12,000rpm or cruising on the motorway at 3500.. So it's a calculated guess based upon normal running.Supermofo wrote: ↑Mon Mar 07, 2022 10:08 am Forgot to say yesterday. Mine uses previous average, but then recalculates on the fly.weeksy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 07, 2022 10:10 amIt can't calculate in advance it can only estimate. Re: GSXS 1000 - Mofo's Gixxus
Yeah I've read the GSX takes what you've done before and then how you are riding now and calculates like my car. So nail it and it'll drop, ride like a saint and it'll increase. I've read it's pretty accurate for most people. So assume mine needs a few rides to calibrate.Yorick wrote: ↑Mon Mar 07, 2022 10:16 amMine uses previous average, but then recalculates on the fly.weeksy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 07, 2022 10:10 amIt can't calculate in advance it can only estimate. LCR tested the new GT version last week and was seeing a fuel range into the 180s and that has the same engine and fuel tank as mine so be interesting what I get. Hoping 150 miles to the light as that'll be the same as the Duke albeit I'll need to put more fuel in.

Mine was doing 55+ MPG in Spain last year at motorway cruising speeds.Supermofo wrote: ↑Mon Mar 07, 2022 10:25 amYeah I've read the GSX takes what you've done before and then how you are riding now and calculates like my car. That's bloody good. Mine was showing 48 yesterday but that included sitting still for a ages whilst people faffed about in Tesco and warming it up before I left. The on the fly mpg was up in the 50s on the A10 which is bloody impressive.

But you're fatter so the weight difference outweighs the reduced drag.

Re: GSXS 1000 - Mofo's Gixxus
Currently got the TC set at 3 which is max, whilst it's cold and new/crapish tyres. But I've heard the TC doesn't allow wheelies and instead cuts the power and smashes your nuts into the tank which sounds a bit mean!

Turn it all off. It doesn't work in real time. It's all preset parameters.
